Am i playing the f15E wrong

I do not want to come off as crying avarage US main but i do feel like i am playing the f15e wrong and its frustrating playing with the aim120’s. I do not know if i am doing it wrong but launching them from 35km out on TWS HND but it feels like people can just easily dodge them.

aim120 are bad and need fixes. its not your fault.
but there are thing you can do in a f15e to make it less bad

Id say thats maximum range you should be launching your C5s, and that highly depends on being high + fast.

How high are you at the moment of launch?

How fast are you at the moment of launch?

Do you guide the missiles all the way till they go terminal?

use standard TWS.

I would try a similar tactic that I employ in the Typhoon.

As soon as you spawn in, side climb to 25k ft (or just below contrail height) and fly parallel to battlefield, looking for anyone isolated or trying to flank. If/when you find someone that looks to be in a weak spot, accelerate up to Mach 1.5+ and fire at 20-25km (or when the target is within the LSZ on the radar) If the target isnt pinging your RWR, then I would get closer.

The key with the Aim-120s, especailly the C5s, is to impart as much energy as you can into them at launch, and give them as easy a shot as possible as to not waste energy, so also fire towards the missile intercept point too.

You also need to read the enemy and what they are doing or going to do, you can easily kill someone at 60km if they are flying dumb, but a smart player will be hard to kill at even 5km

When you fire, turn away from the target, as to place the contact at the edge of your radar scope, this way, if you need to defend, you have already partially turned into the notch. Which way you turn is highly situational, and has pros and cons either way.

If you are nearer the end of the match, and there is only a few players left and you’ve got plenty of missiles left, you can also try firing two missiles at a target, the key is to get them to come at the target from two slightly different directions, which makes notching them both tricky. This can be done by firing one slightly to the rear at the target and another above and in front of it. Doesnt always work, as it can depend on the range to target, etc, but it can make defending tricky

AIM-120A/B are bad in long range, use C-5 for Longer range, otherwise don’t use them past 25km.

I took F-15I out for the first time in ages during the event. Some of the longer range hits I got with C5:

If I was aiming for any higher range kills than that, I would just jump in that Iranian F-14 and use F90s. Anyway, my main issue with the F-15I, which would apply to F-15E, is that you go to climb and BVR and the UFOs on the other team are already higher, faster, and so on. Like the enemy can do everything you can do but even better (since 14.3 uptiers are a plenty, of course).
