ALR-56C/M changes are ahistorical

image

It is public knowledge that the ALR56C/M can detect and ID modern radars both ground and air yet gaijin has decided to nerf it in the recent RWR changes on the dev server.

Here is a direct quote from the manufacturer of the ALR56 RWR system: “Detection and identification of modern search, acquisition, and tracking radars of ground- based or aircraft weapon systems.”, (https://www.baesystems.com/en-us/product/an-alr-56-radar-warning-receivers?gad_source=1).

I made a bug report about this anyone wants to check it out: Community Bug Reporting System

bingo, like so many issues on the dev server gaijin is going to ignore these threads regardless

Here’s the thing, Gaijin themselves would not be able to source the threat catalogue, meaning this change is done for gameplay, not through source material.

Every NATO digital RWR after ALR-46 is programmable and update Emitter Identification Data or Threat Library to identify new threat.
This RWR change is not historical nor balanced.

it will at minimum have most current russian/soviet aircraft radar and ground radars in the database, likely 1980’s and onwards

also i’d like to point our the mig23 will be one of the few aircraft these RWR can still ID, so what would actually be in the database isnt a problem for gaijin considering most mig23’s are museum pieces at this point

Also consider many “old” threats would still be catalogued, so removing them doesn’t make sense either.

I state this because they have nothing to say this is historical. None whatsoever.

Let see if this come to live or not
Hope not but really not big surprise if they did

My guess is Gaijin got electrical warfare maunals in early 80s of F-4/A-7 or something, and they nerfed every RWR based on that.

Imagine Vietnam era manual for modern stuff lol

I reported another one.I found USAF updated their emitter identification data of ALR-46/69 in 2016

We know know Gaijin does not have a preference for the Soviet tech tree, as proven through many instances.
This isn’t a nerf. The only aircraft impacted are Viggens really.

@Matt_UFP
What proof do we have that says it’ll tell the radar operator an F-16C is locking them?

Also M735 only got nerfed on flat pen, not angled pen.

It actually got better by a few mm too at some angles. The biggest change was it now having a much smaller pennable area on the Leopard 2A4, but that’s not an issue now.

I’d rather have it spall more than pen more tbh.

Yeah, I defended the Rooivalk from lies originated from Russian propaganda.
That’s not the insult you thought it’d be.

Nor is “The fact you’ve played hundreds of hours of helicopters isn’t enough.”

Neither insult make you look good.

Cool, heli PVP hasn’t been a game mode in years making your PVP-focused comment irrelevant.
I too played PVP helis, which is how a number of my helis have losses.

Interesting that your post accuses people that criticize Russian equipment to be a main of a nation not in War Thunder as a tech tree.

I’ve played all game modes with all vehicles in 10 tech trees, on top of playing the game as if I had a full-time job.
So yeah, your no-lifing War Thunder is not the insult to me you think it is.

Not sure why you’re responding to someone that has known about Vikhr’s characteristics before its introduction to War Thunder.
