Almost all helicopters (except 13.0) are dead and they need a buff

Yeah good luck shooting down a heli with ATGM using a M163 or M42 if you want it historical.

right…

Mi-24s can get locked on even further than that

Do you think posting a video where they did it, invalidates the hundreds of times I’ve tried to do it and it didnt lock? Are we for real? Do you think that’s how any of this works?

Obviously my anecdotes are superior to your anecdotes

Translation: pound sand

I really don’t care how you brought a Stinger over 10.0 and couldn’t lock something sitting >6km and tossing Hellfires.

Yeah except nobody said that. I’ve had the stinger routinely fail to lock onto 8.0 helicopters at 2.5-3km. By the way, the Stinger shows up at 9.7 on german SPAA and will routinely see said 10.0+ helicopters. Should SPAA only work in a downtier? Is that your argument?

the inverse being Helis can only work in full downtiers since that’s what it takes to see an Ozelot in something like a Littlebird/Kiowa/Lynx etc.

even then you risk getting completely zoned out by an Osa and not achieving anything

Ok, what does this have to do with what we’re talking about? I am not somebody who thinks helicopters are in a good spot either. SPAA has to be able to work in its full BR range more or less or it stops being useful or relevant. CAS does not have to do this to be useful or relevant.

fr mate? Saying these below all those stats?

Talk skill again and I would say just shoot BMPT weak spots

Calling for imba in a balance thread. Once again.

Overall efficiency is lower than ideal. Yet we don’t have to care about gameplay when stats of all nations and all BRs are there.

I’ve pulled away headon 9Ls when a10 was low as 9.7. Now they fits their 10.37.

If CAS doesn’t have to do this then why would you also say Helis “are not in a good spot”

Barely any of the Helis are useful/relevant but don’t deserve the same distinction of functioning in their BR range because you say so?

If were going historical a lot of those early ATGMs like the AS.11 would be MCLOS guided

Well because things still should be made closer to an overall balance, but if CAS isn’t in a good spot its not the same thing as if a core vehicle like SPAA are not in a good spot.

No, that’s the complete opposite of what it should be.

SPAA should be cheap to boot to spawn and CAS should be expensive to spawn. It’s ground battles. CAS should be able to charge the momentum a small amount, not completely shift the tides of the game.

And when they do spawn in, they need to be experienced enough to dodge the SPAA and attack their intended targets.

The A6E Tram at 10.7 can out range and SPAA at that br relatively easy with AGM-123’s. It is completely invulnerable to anything except other planes. That should not be a possibility ever.

Counting or not counting heli rushers?

In all seriousness, these stats are screwed for low BR helps so bad because noobs buy them, rush in at the start of a match, and immediately die.

i would like to see more helicopters flying on match (except 13.0)

2.4 km at absolute best, pathetic

Most helicopters as they are ingame cannot hope to perform against spaas, nothing that can be done, most helis are stuck with nerfed hellfires, and in real life even with everything working as it should, helicopters arent made to dace off against serious anti air, idk what he expects? Helicopters are meant to face off against manpads and generally very short range system. Helis arent mean to fight sams, and even then currently helicopters are hugely overperforming against Active radar missiles and things like stingers and mistrals, idk what he eas thinking making this thread. Helicopters need their own gamemode not to have frb balanced around them being good all the time.

wow it’s like I didn’t post getting smacked by a Stinger from >3.5km seconds after taking off

Almost as if flooding high tier with free and underpriced SPAA was one issue he brought up in the OP

Addressing issues with Helicopters

Can’t speak for OP but I’d settle for consistency, not only 3 Helis good in hyper-specific scenarios and be a SP/SL donation for insecure tank mains the rest of the time

This is something that needs to be realized.

This thread was founded in the basis that there is a way to make helis effective in ground RB. There is not.

Helis were never meant to fight aircraft and SAM systems. Usually, SAM sites would be struck before helicopters fly in to prevent them from being shot down. Air superiority would usually be established too, making their weakness to aircraft irrelevant.

It’s exactly like how the A-10 operates IRL. It isn’t meant to fight SAM’s. It is meant to take small arms fire and dish out destruction to low-tech armies. The moment a SAM site appears, you are as a good as dead.

Helis cannot, and will not ever operate under these ideal circumstances, as their main 2 weaknesses (SAM’s and aircraft), they consistently fight in this game.

Helicopters cannot operate in defend airspace effectively if anything theyre already grossly overperforming against active radar missiles, helicopters cannot be effective at high tiers with unrealistically gimping anti air even more, the only thing i can say is that hellfire, pars and spike are currently nerfed and should be fixed

I’ve been on both sides of the fence, and honestly 90% of Helicopter players are VERY bad. At 7.0-9.0 it can be excused , but you’d be surprised how many people hop in a YAH-64 or KA50 and hover at 2000 meters, expecting 12+ kills per run.

SPAA is powerful, thats true , but a helicopter player that is skilled can also be a real bother to take down.

A few days ago i ran into my first ever instance of a smart helicopter player. It was a guy in a YAH-64 , and he was using his kit to the fullest. Hovering behind cover, tossing a Hellfire via INS, and only showing himself for 5 seconds before impact for final laser guidance.

We brawled for 5 whole minutes, exchanging Hellfires and TOR missiles respectively. I only won because that “Air!” alert mechanic is broken, and it can spot vehicles behind cover.

Oh yeah, most people seem to just forget that helicopters can move sideways and get shot down by APFSDS or 155mm HEVT before their first missile reaches the ground
