Allow Bushes to be Turned Off in Graphics

its bad to you, but good to the people who buy them and the people who buy them are giving gaijin $$$$.

Yeah great, and the entire game should suffer from it because we’re going to pretend this game wouldn’t survive without $3 pay to win bushes and they need to be there.

If youre mad about bushes they are obviously working as intended. No there shouldnt be an option to turn off other peoples camouflage that theyve paid for.

Also this is a skill issue.

Bushes are not pay to win.
In-fact, many tanks I’ve spotted due to them being bushed up.
Bushing up a Tiger 2 only makes it easier to spot it.
And bushes on Abrams turret ring might work more than it doesn’t currently, but that can be done with as little as 1 bush, and is futile the moment enough people learn turret ring position relative to turret gun.

Needing to learn the position of a weakspot relative to other parts is exactly what the advantage of bushes are, assuming you can even identify the vehicle you’re looking at, let alone the weakspot.

i mean i agree with this, i also agree that they shouldn’t be able to cover optics, in enlisted bushes can’t cover optics either.

Sim already has the solution, RB would benefit from that mechanic as well and having the gun parallax

In real life, you would be able to place camouflage and netting so as to cover the relevant areas, without obstructing view.

Besides that, I play sim a lot, and all my tanks are heavily bushed up all the same. I fiddle with placement to make sure I can cover weak spots without obstructing my sim view. It’s not particularly difficult.

Ever since I started using bushes, I have found Tiger IIs to be among the most major beneficiaries. They’re a lot more survivable now.

I never get this real life comparison, as if this:

Is identical to this, and that’s using the 6 pack which looks a lot better even.

Would be a different story if all bushes looked like

That’s sort of the point. These bushes work nothing like IRL netting. They have an upside (in thickness) and a downside (very limited placement with all sorts of obstacles, and inability to fit to optics). As such, expecting it to behave realistically is silly.

And if you do want more realistic bushes, you have to accelt ghat gunsights etc will be unaffected.

If I was Gaijin I would remove bushes even if its just because they look hideous and make the game look dumb.

However bushes can completely obscure tanks, and make identification impossible. Bushes aren’t entirely P2W, but they do give you a huge advantage when you can completely hide what tank you are playing.

Hell no, I spend too much time to unlock it!

Pretty sure the big hats, flashing lights, ignited flares, giant gnomes, and other playful decorators are eleventy billion times more dumb than bushes. Also pretty sure Gaijin won’t ever provide an option to turn those off, so…

Yeah, they’re all pretty ridiculous for a game wanting to be realistic and immersive and there’s a wheeled vehicle with sparklers and neon signs doing a backflip whilst you’re can’t get up a 3 degree incline without sliding down.

Actually, I believe non-realistic items can already be turned off in settings (though I don’t remember exactly where as I leave them around for laughs).

Beyond that…I am amused to see @Miragen of all people mirroring my own thoughts quite closely. It’s an interesting twist.

I’m more surprised than you are.

I favor balance and I find the implementation of bushes comically terrible.

Any way you cut it, Gaijin really blew it with bushes:

  • Unequal access
  • ‘Problematic’ relations realism, as seen above in photos and discussions on optics
  • Disparities based on acquisition time/nature

Bushes carry with them a lot of problems…and they also usually look hideous too.

The way it previously worked was okay’ish, being able to get one a month was fair enough at least, not great but it was something.
Having them tied to the warbond shop makes it a lot more grindy, from one per month to one per 3-4 months and it seems they even cycle in and out of the shop so it becomes one per 6 months if they return next time.

Most people have the ‘I got mine so screw you’ attitude in regards to most things unfortunately.

Still, if people pretend they don’t give an advantage it should just be a toggle for them.
