I can’t say I remember how long it’s been like this, but I remember this being prominent when the T-2 was first added, since it utterly demolished the F-100D and MIG-19PT, and was needed as a bandaid to prevent such onesided matches. Guess poor balancing hasn’t changed.

Would be nice if they would just port over sim lobbies with ARB controls, and no nametags. Give people an option for realistic battles redfor vs bluefor without having to learn sim controls or have periphials.

I have been playing since 2017 or so. When I started, and up until around 2019-2020, every single game just about was built “narratively” with one side clearly having a theme and the other also having a theme, such as allies vs axis (with neutral nations going where they need be) in the ranks 1-4, or NATO vs Warsaw (again, with neutral nations going wherever) and this sort of mixed matchmaker was rare.

Since 2020-2021, they have mostly leaned into this boring ass everybody vs everybody matchmaker that produces the same exact match every time, slop.

If it wasn’t for Mr.Worldwide x Mr.Worldwide teams, people would start complaining even more from unbalanced BS.

I think it’s the least of 2 evils.

This was also fun, sometimes…

Either way the result would be similar, people got bored of the same thing…

The main issue I have with WT after BR compression is the lack of options, we can’t have both with gaijin, its gotta be one or another. Just look at the useless “play in small teams” button

I think it’s worse

I don’t think the stats based BR system was supposed to function this way, for example; the only reason the J-7D is 10.7 is because facing other J-7Ds is what’s keeping it there.

Have you been here to experience the “narrative” based matches like @Normandy_Corsair explained? Most of the time, they were very one sided. The team on the favoured side would need to be very brain-dead to lose.

Stats based BR is very dumb yeah. But J-7D is not a good example since its easily dealt with by most jets, even in a downtier it’s not a big issue since the J-7D is a mediocre platform and most people have flares
