Ajax: AJ the Great

That’s annoying, I also had to go through all the light tanks because they didn’t put it after the Desert Warrior

Ignoring the whole aluminium thing it’s currently missing a second layer of armour over the entire hull front and most of the turret, alongside the lower side skirts almost definitely not being “4mm structural steel”. Spall liners are also obviously a factor in weight but we all know they never get modelled.

We’ve still got a week at least, so it can change and I did see someone do a bug report of the spall liners, but it hasn’t got reviewed yet, so hopefully when the update does come its somewhat better

Looks like they added a 44mm plate to the rear and removed the upper front plate, so somethings happening

In hindsight I think it did actually have the second layer modelled but only over the driver’s side for some reason? I’m still convinced the turret and sides are missing armour but overall it’s a lot better now, rear can actually stop 14.5 AP-I(c). Still not sure if it should be aluminium though, is there a source for that or is it just a guess?

Not entirely sure, but there is a second (rear and front) layer just not around the engine

Did anyone bug report the missing armor on the hull for the ajax? because I am seeing a massive a armor hole there and it is so unarmored to the point that the 5mm on the puma can pen it there

Yeah someone did bug report it, but it should change soon as it seems they’re trying to do something with the armour

Yeah I fell you, when I was in middle of grinding ADATS (M113) they added “indian” SPAA and since i dont have time to play that often I unlocked it only few days after they stopped being skipable so to buy ADATS I had to research and buy Osa too.
But hey, at least all these light tanks are actually fun unique vehicles worth playing (excluding Badger).

“AJAX” and “Great” in the same post should be illegal.

I think they did it because of same logic like in swedish tree where CV90s with ATGM are placed in SPG/ATGM carrier tree andautocannon only ones are in light tank tree, so simularely Warriors with ATGMs are in SPG/ATGM line and Ajax, Fox and Scimitar ended up in light tank line (and Warrior CSP and Warrior 2000 would propably end up in light tank line as well if they were ever added).

Yeah, I see why they did it but common sense would say behind the desert warrior, I’ve also managed to go through all the light tanks now so it’s not too bad

No Spall liners still, however the UFP is around 120mm of protection which is quite good, and the inner composite armour / transmission soaks up a lot of shrapnel

the lack of spawl liner, is however a problem; specially seeming as there have been cited documents saying it has all round spawl liners, even bug reported to gaijin

Yeah I imagine it’ll be quite a problem, and they still haven’t looked at the bug report with 26 people saying same issue, so we’ll have to see (also the BMPT gets it at the same tier so I don’t see why not)

iirc test drive doesn’t apply crew skills, and reloading 1 round at a time is correct. not sure about the 100 rounds though.

I’ma going to grind out this Ajax later this afternoon, for only one reason:
