Air-to-Air (CAP) Respawn Points Should Be Reduced in Top-Tier Realistic Ground Battles to Counter CAS

When it comes to top tier, respawn points for aircraft equipped with air-to-air weapons should be reduced as a way to counter CAS. Relying only on SPAA to deal with planes and helicopters is extremely difficult.

Many times you die to CAS, and when you respawn in an anti-air vehicle, you barely have time to reposition and engage before getting destroyed again. On top of that, most of the time you don’t even have enough spawn points to come back in a fighter with only air-to-air missiles to properly counter enemy aircraft.

I see a lot of people saying that SPAA should just be buffed to counter planes, but realistically, that won’t solve the problem.

Yes, SPAA did receive some buffs recently, like higher missile speed and radar improvements, but it’s still very hard to consistently counter air targets. You might manage to kill one or two aircraft, but that alone isn’t enough to stop CAS from dominating the match.

Another big issue is map size. Most maps are extremely small, which often doesn’t give you enough time or space to properly position a large SPAA vehicle. On top of that, SPAA is usually always exposed and easily spotted by tanks, making survival even harder.

Because of all this, reducing air-to-air aircraft respawn costs would be a much more effective and realistic way to counter CAS at top tier than endlessly buffing anti-air vehicles.

On top of that, speaking as someone who actually enjoys playing CAS, when I face a combination of SPAA and enemy aircraft, it becomes extremely difficult to do CAS effectively. Having to deal with both at the same time already creates a strong counterbalance.

I also don’t think this would turn ground battles into air-only battles. Lately, endgame matches already feel more like SPAA vs SPAA anyway. Because of that, I don’t believe reducing air-to-air respawn costs would negatively impact tank battles — if anything, it would improve overall balance rather than make things worse.

As most people say: “CAS is very easy to take — just a few frags + a base,” so I’ll tell you that CAP is even easier to take. But if you can’t earn points on CAP, I doubt you’ll be of any use with CAP at all. Most likely you’ll just be +1 frag for a CAS plane or SPAA.

I’m not here to put anyone down; I’d like this topic to be just a debate.

But if you consider yourself such a pro player and want to talk me down, you should start by having better air-to-air K/Ds with planes than mine.

I appreciate your irrelevant opinion in this topic, and I’ll end my discussion with you here — I won’t be replying any further.

My post wasn’t meant for you personally, but for players who can’t manage to earn points on CAP.
Your K/D over the last month is only 0.04 higher than mine (1.36 vs 1.32), so I don’t really know what you’re trying to brag about.
And asking to lower the SP cost so that anyone can jump into a plane? And then what?
Those who play with CAS won’t have a problem with those CAP bots, since most of the main CAS aircraft can carry a full air-to-ground loadout along with a decent amount of air-to-air weaponry.
The only reason that comes to my mind for why you personally want to lower the CAP cost is so you could calmly farm those bots yourself and brag about your K/D.

What is an aircraft with air-to-air weaponry supposed to be used for? The name already explains it — it’s obvious.

The problem is that someone gets lucky early in the match, gets two kills and captures a point, and suddenly they already have enough spawn points to bring out a CAS aircraft. Meanwhile, you’re still positioning yourself at the start of the match and get killed by that plane. And when you respawn, what are your options? Just SPAA?

I don’t think that’s fair.

Then the same player goes back to base, rearms, and starts spamming bombs and missiles. You get killed again in your SPAA, and at that point it becomes way too easy for them.

What country in the world has ever won a battle without air support? That simply doesn’t exist. Being forced to sit in spawn with SPAA only — especially when there are GPS-guided bombs in the game — is not real balance, and it’s not good gameplay either.

I’m talking about each aircraft individually; the information you used is completely irrelevant, since it covers many different factors.

Not to mention that when you’re carrying CAS ordnance, your aircraft becomes much heavier and usually has fewer air-to-air weapons than someone who is specifically focused on intercepting you. That alone is already a significant disadvantage.

Missile should never have an SP cost, its dumb and serves no purpose.

I also think the base cost of aircraft should be more like 350-400, and they can just increase the cost of A2G weapons to compensate

If someone played better (or luckier) than you, why should some kind of discount be applied to you so that you could intercept (revenge kill) the better-playing (or luckier) player at a lower cost?
War Thunder is a competitive game (leaving aside nation balance, bias, op sh1t, and so on) – whoever plays better wins. If no one on your team managed to earn enough (~600) points and protect the team from a player who, as you say, shoots, reloads, shoots, reloads, then I can say only one thing.
“Sorry, please be so kind and accept the defeat.”

If I were to follow your logic, since he did everything right and got a CAS aircraft, then Gaijin might as well remove SPAA altogether so you can do your CAS without any inconvenience.

And if you’re really that good at CAS, you should also be very good at dealing with someone trying to intercept you with another aircraft. I don’t think that would be a problem for a “pro” player. What are you afraid of?

According to your logic, the better-performing team (or player) should lose.

Imagine if Game allowed the said player to not have a discount but be able to spawn something that You can’t do anything about without dying.

Crazy right?

Against what can’t you do anything? Ah, I know the answer:

‘My M2A8 Bebrams can’t shoot down a plane on the other side of the world. That’s unfair.’

What are you even talking about? Back in the day, when the KH38 could sweep everything from the battlefield…

A2A armaments are plenty strong for their price, and toptier SPAA is also way too OP in it’s current state.

Against any air unit while in ground unit.

Preatty simple to understand.

Of course, if I want to fight against someone who can’t fight back, I might as well play against bots, create a custom match, and just bomb them.

I really enjoy doing CAS, but I’m in favor of proper balance.

At lower BRs, a different balance issue appears — for example, the Gepard fighting post–World War II fighters. A similar problem can also be seen around BR 10.0, where aircraft without flares have to face 20G+ missile SPAAs, and even with flares, IR missiles with IRCCM that are almost impossible to evade, especially for very slow aircraft. Sometimes you also have planes without ballistic computers going up against radar-guided missiles. This is completely unbalanced and should be reviewed.

+1 for CAP has been so dead for years
-1 for one major reason why CAP is considered bad is that SPAAs are far more effective, economically and capability-wise. You won’t try to spawn CAP with all the SP.
