The Ki-87 and Ki-94-II were both designed to be high altitude interceptors. These aircraft both have quite poor performance relative to their BR. There are aircraft that serve similar roles that get an air spawn and it helps those aircraft perform just a bit better since the climb rate is so poor. Why don’t the Ki-87 and Ki-94-II have the “Interceptor” role and associated air spawn? The climb rate on these aircraft is abysmal relative to the aircraft at it’s BR (I don’t care what stat cards say, please fly it yourself and see). I know these are not common aircraft, but I think they wouldn’t be quite so obscure if they weren’t quite so awful to play.

High alt is simply off-meta for ARB. You can’t help these planes.
Only way you can help them is by introducing a new game mode where you defend high alt space from bombers.

Ta-152H has interceptor spawn and it helps tremendously, same with Fw 190 A-8. Giving japanese interceptors an air spawn is a good idea. It won’t make them suddenly meta or save in any way, but it will give them more fair game overall

I personally don’t have the Ki-94 but I have the Ki-87 and I cant really say anything other than its my favourite vehicle in fhe game. Its gorgeous, it has a crazy good engine with amazing cannons I personally think its fine at 5.7, I just wish the 20s and 30s had a similar velocity but its not really a big deal. I just play it like a P-47 Fw-190 cross and it does me well
You can add the J7W to the list as well.
These planes are just pathetic at their BR’s, they have nothing going on for them other than the guns.

Giving them an air spawn will not make them meta, but it will at least make them less painful to play. There is a reason so few of them are ever encountered. @hjnbnb 's masochism aside, they are generally accepted to be some of the worst aircraft in that BR range and are frequently mentioned when people make a list of the top worst aircraft for their BR in the game.
Don’t get me wrong… I can also enjoy playing poorly performing aircraft. The L-39 and the F-4F Early are some of my favorites, but I have no illusions about their balance or lack thereof.
I mean I guess it would make them better but I personally believe we have things that are more important like how overpowered SPAA is or how overtiered the FCM. 36 is
I don’t think it has to be zero sum. I don’t see how the issues you mentioned would preclude giving these aircraft some love. Adding an air spawn would be incredibly easy.
