I was thinking of destroying all ships and costal artilery with some high tier plane while having unlimited ammo on and then land with floatplane, one time like year ago i did emergency landing with etendard near harbour point on Denmark and it was marked like contested points are in ground battles but capturing wasnt progressing.
I tried with japanese 800kg bomb didnt have any luck with direct hit
Yeah, it does…it just filters all firendlies but leaves enemies, even if they are the same aircraft (some RWRs did have IFF IRL, like the Gr7, but it’s mostly a game thing)
But with mixed teams and planes this is the best, or least worse solution
It’s my understanding that the IRL IFF prevents locking on to friendlies (unless Turkey shows you how to hack the software to turn it off).

Yeah it is, and if you want max immersion, these settings give you the choice. Gaijin doing a good thing for a change
I suppose it does in game. But only with cyclic selection. That would be a good thing to add with manual selection (or at the very least, a setting option for it, there are times where I want to lock my radar into a friendly because I can then see where they are in my HUD)
I feel like it was there in Arcade but right now in arcade mode I can’t target anything (with my F-14 radar) in any mode other than “ACM” and only in close range… something terrible has happened.
That definetly sounds wrong. I’ve had no issues in ASB in either the FRS1 or FA2 since the update. So I would make sure your settings havent reset after the update. There were some tweaks to the radar controls this major and if you use a default config, they may have changed
I think I need to make a video - the issue is there’s no returns to target (I have it set to manual and the manual controls still move the curser around, but there’s no circles to highlight)
It should be circles in TWS mode which is what I normally use; it does show returns in PD SRC (etc) mode but when I try to target one they all disappear and nothing is targeted…
Yeah, that is very very strange
I wonder, how do contrails look on a PC that can run high end effects?
Can you actually see through it? I’m starting to kind of hate winter maps at being unable to see what I’m shooting at.
I’ve never really thought about it to be honest.
:D
But I dont know if that is because I can see through or just because Missiles dont care about them :D
Playback error occured. Can you do a (link) like this so it does not embed?
There you go, spoilering videos breaks them randomly
(skip to about 2:45 for the best footage)
Is there a good guide for guided ammunitions somewhere? Especially for Sim?
Im struggling a bit with the controls, since I never really used them because in VR its a bit janky anyway.
So I was happy with dumb CCIP bombs for a base from time to time.
But especially at the end of a match when there are almost no enemy players left, it would be nice to go for some ground targets.
Im playing with Warthog Hotas, so I ca use the small nipple for targeting. Mouse is also fine, as its next to the joystick.
Thanks
You might want to check out the key binds for ground weapons. If you go to the controls menu on aircraft you’ll see many things related to ground weaponry. Another option is to check on the modifications menu of the plane you’re using and test these guided weapons it’ll basically tell you what you have to press and you can later search for them in the ‘Controls’ menu. There are 5 types of ground weapons, the dumb bombs, laser guided bombs/missiles, GNSS guided, IR guided and TV guided. IR guided and Laser guided missiles of bombs ‘follow’ the target you’ve locked, and GNSS and dumb bombs just fall where you want them to fall. To designate a target I use the ‘Activate target point’ control (normally using a targeting pod for more accuracy). Whereas to how you should map these controls, it all depends on how you feel more comfortable. In my case I use a mouse with 13 programmable buttons, so I’ve got plenty to choose. I’ve got no clue on how you should map them on the joystick. I can’t be more specific on how the controls work since I don’t have the mouse right now and flying with the touchpad isn’t easy at all and I’m missing half my keybinds.
Thanks.
I played around with the controls a bit and will use the mouse. Its just faster and more precise.
But I still did not get the targeting thing completely, especially when attacking more than one target.
Would be nice if someone could describe the procedure of locking and firing at multiple targets.
It depends on the type of guidance they use, basically, laser guided ones have to be locked on until they get to the target. GNSS guided ones can be dropped, and then you can change targets with the targeting pod (you basically use the pod and the bomb will go wherever you’re aiming). I usually use GBU-39s on sim battles against immobile targets. Against convoys, I use AGM-65s which basically follow the target, a fire and forget A2G missile. Take into account that whenever you drop the bomb, you can’t make it change targets, you can only do that with laser guided ordnance. I usually use the target point on the map to more or less aim the targeting pod there so I don’t have to look around for the ground targets.
I forgot about the walleyes but I’m pretty bad at guiding them so I never use them (much less in Sim battles).
