So gaijin thinks the R-77-1 is as good or the same as the AIM-120C, evidence of the R-77-1 stats please or is it another Gaijin moment…

unless they change the aim 120C5 stats R-77-1 will be the better missile 90% or more of the time

Aim-120C5 (as of the current dev server) is probably still inferior to the R-77-1. And that doesnt include the fact the SU-30SM has the second best radar at 14.0 and double the average number of ARH missiles at 12.

Not unless Gaijin fixes funny bug that makes ACM\HMS mode to completely bug out and not being usable unless you restart the radar or force it to look at empty space for some time. Amount of missiles usually also doesn’t present any significant advantage, becasue majority of opposition can just avoid being in range of your missiles with superior airframe performance. R-77-1 holds a solid advantage at 20km range that is true, but if you are in an HMS range of a Su-30 in something that isn’t Rafale or F-18 - you might’ve messed up badly in your positioning.

still doesn’t fix the energy difference between an amraam launched at M 1.6 and a 77-1 with f-'d up drag launched at M1.1

Yepz that would help fix the Aim-120C5 fired from something like the Typhoon. At the moment BVR is almost impossible

I personally never feel that as a weakness. Those amrams never hit me either way.
Hell i just shoot them down if i feel lazy. Fly straight without maneuvers and you will never miss a missile.

Care to elaborate? I play with Su-30 that has 14 missiles, i play Su-27SM with 12, i play MiG-29SMT with 6. And in my experience jump from 6 to 12 mostly means that i can just be less thoughtful with my launches because i just carry additional weight. Maybe i get 2 more kills on average with additional missiles but it’s just occasions where my team has weaker members that die faster to the enemy. In a mediocre or good team your extra missiles just a dead weight that you won’t use most of the time.

You can put more pressure on enemies, you have potentially more kills and last but not least you can afford to intercept missiles that you dont have time to dodge.

if missile numbers don’t make a difference, why do we have the sidekick modification of the F35, literally adding 2 more bays for a missile each, or double racks for launchers?

Also if you have more missiles, you can fire more of them, forcing the enemy defensive, esp with longer range missiles. So you can be on the offensive, while the enemy isn’t and that is a huge tactical advantage.
That’s one reason FOX 3 are replacing FOX 1’s in the first place.

Yes, the mass is also a factor, but this is relative to the plane and mostly engine.
And not that relevant for BVR.

the speed at which a missile is launched depends on the plane, and fins have lower drag than gridfins…
Gridfins are only good (and then signifcantly better) at higher mach numbers (Airspeed, not ground/true speed)

Putting pressure on enemies is usually contradicts with “getting more kills” because this enemy will most likely eat a friendly missile too focused on escaping yours. Having “potentially more kills” is also weird argument because it will require very specific circumstances of your team being completely dead while enemy team blodied enough to not just swarm you intantly chasing a last kill. Or, if you are extremely good at the game on Bad Karma levels, which is, let’s be frank, unachievable by 70-80% of WT playerbase. And as for intercepting enemy missiles - it’s more of a “i messed up badly” card than an actual strategy. Considering all the time that you need to lock enemy missile and launch yours at good enough trajectory that it will intercept you can just go cold and do a loop saving missiles and getting into a better position rather than wasting yours on interceptions. And at close range it is very inconsistent so you you better just get good at positioning rather than spamming missiles in hope of interception.

My brother in christ, WT plays very different to real life rules of engagement, from actual modelling of vehicles\equipment to extreme leniency towards pilot physical and psychological tolerances. What could be a significant advantage IRL in WT could be absolutely meaningless. In WT forcing enemy to go defencive by firing more missiles usually just takes away your position and invites half of the enemy to just unload on you because they see a giant flower of engine smoke trails. And beyond 20 km range every single Fox-3 is very easy to defeat, so this “pushing enemies to be defencive” has less and less effect the more experience enemy has. I won’t say no to additional missiles ofc, but they aren’t as huge of an advatage as people trying to say.

Its really not. It can allow a more gressive playstyle and will allow you to retain datalinks by forgoing going sfensive. Having 12 arh is a massive advantage when most enemeis have 6 at most

“most enemies” have 8-10, not 6. There is 1 airframe at 14.0 that has 6 Fox-3 missiles and it is Eurofighter. Eurofighter performance is more than enough to play agressively without needing to rely on intercepting enemy missiles with your Fox-3s. Every other airframe with this amout of Fox-3 missiles is rightfully put at 13.7-13.3. And even with them, if you understand how notching works, with closure speed and distance you can be as agressive without needing to waste your missiles.

Rafales and eurofighter are the most common. Both of which have 6/4 missiles less. F/a18s have 10 but they got 10 worse missiles. And no your objectively wrong you cannot be as aggressive if youre straight up notching.

Both AIM-120C5 and R77-1 can achieve a range of 105km when launched according to NATO standards. In fact, the arrival time of R77-1 is even shorter than that of AIM-120C5. Something magical must have happened.

then how do i manage to be as agressive by just straight notching? And i am not even talknig about no-brain Rafale 15G insta notch angles, i am talking about airframes like 29SMT or 27SM.

You cannot be as aggressive that my argument. And its undeniable, by notching youre going defensive.
