My brother in christ… if the MICA IR (a R-27ET/MICA EM love child with datalink support; you can launch in BVR and it’ll pick up whatever the seeker sees later on) with equivalent or better performing IIR guidance is not in the game right now (as it should’ve been, as F3R Rafales doesn’t use Magic 2), what makes you think the lesser ranged cousin of it would be?
I get the Hornet is slow as balls or that USA players generally struggle due to airframe constraints and/or skill issues, but that doesn’t mean they should get preferential treatment to make up for the Hornet’s weaknesses in speed or any of the other reasons. It would violently upset the balance, as the Hornet is useless in BVR (unless your target isn’t paying attention) but is very good in WVR. If the air-to-air AIM-9X is to be similarly implemented the way the ground-launched variant is, it would basically be almost unflarable at close range.
AIM-9X is an IIR missile, which is way too good to add to the current meta in the current game.
Even BVVD confirmed that it will not come out for the plane in this update.
So, there will be no chance for OP to get AIM-9X on ‘his F/A-18C’ exclusively in this update.
While other F/A-18 outside USA share the same problem.
When AIM-9X is valid for release for the plane, when that time has come, AIM-9X will be the worst IIR missile, so there will be a chance of USA mains suffering even more
(unless Gaijin mindlessly decides to give AIM-9X as early-access IIR just like AIM-54 did :/ )
Sadly, in Gaijin’s typical illogical logic, if American jets’ stats are reaching way too low, there is some chance of giving ASRAAM or IRIS-T because of nothing but compatibility(exported version can use it/they tested it)
Favourite flavour of ice cream.
Did I summarise the topic well, or is there anything I should’ve added?
R73m shoukd have the overload increased from whst it is ingame yes but that would change little to nothing about the missile perfomance, at slow speeds where the missile is most maneivwrable it never gets close to pulling full 40gs. The ircm is really 90% if the missile.
Edit: ive had an r73 do two 45° aoa turns to keep itself straight after a very tight high speed turn to nail a short range gripen. Love those things it looked absurd lol the missile was straight up horizontal to the target twice
Not gonna lie i never have it happen. The real issue with r73s is that because of their speed theyre easier to flare than other fov gatewidth missiles( still better the shutoff imo) my real issue is hoe much r77s miss at close range. I love r77s but they miss way too much at close range even -1
Technically the R-73m was supposed to be an improved version, but it was never made, only the r74m was, but they only pull 40 to 45Gs, the idea of 60Gs is russian copium.
I dunno about 60 but a while ago i did see some decent bug reports saying 50gs. But that might be with dual plane(seriously why isnt this in the game already)
