IRL you can’t shotgun with it at low alt
And I don’t doubt you could get the IRL range given both parties are at high enough altitude and the map is big enough

hmm, send a vid clip sometime, ill analyse
Yeah, but the R-77s range is way less than the AMRAAM, even the early versions, so while it would be fine to have in this scenario it probably wouldn’t be as useful.
Although the way WT models ARH currently is basically pitbull off the rail so you don’t have to guide it at all which is a bit dumb, completely removes the threat to anything with ARH since they can just turn and run and be fine
its not about being historical but having similar capability
I have no clue how to make videos and I’ve gone this long without doing it
Its most likely just launches at bad angles or them fucking with something on their end because it started the same time PD radars shit the bed and Sparrows became very very hit or miss
Respectfully, and even as an American main, 9X is too good for the current meta. It’s more than 9M levels of IRCCM (if modeled correctly) while also being hyperstupidly maneuverable, combined with an HMD means you can just kinda look and things will die. IMO its fine as is right now, the R-27E is the problem, not the R-73.
They’re about the same between the AIM-120A and the original R-77 (57 vs 50 miles). That said, those are claimed ranges. Who knows what the flight performance differences are at range.
If you’re on windows you can press win + alt + g to record a previous 30 seconds clip on xbox game bar
R-23 and 24 are only on the Mig-23’s the only reason for them to go dumb and not track at all, is possibly the target being outside of the missiles receiver radar FOV.
meaning, you can fire at a target nearly above you but the missile wont see it and not track
or use win+alt+r to record a full ass video
Fair enough. Still, I think I’d take an R-27ER/ET over an early R-77, but it might be different in practice.
agreed, i can easily defeat an R or ER, but if im in the NEZ of a 77, or any ARM, im pretty boned, as DEFYN likes to say
Yeah I know how to record, but never bothered to pick up cutting it down for actual upload
They track at start, the enemy turns slightly while I maintain radar lock and the missile just flies off
I point the whole plain directly at them, I’m not trying to launch at weird angles from the rail, that’s not what I meant sorry
oh… chaff… the mig 23’s dont have PD, they have MTI but its gimmicky and has low range
Personally I don’t love radar missiles due to their situationality.
I feel that anyone who wants to avoid one, can. The R27 may be the best example in game, but that’s not saying much as the play style at top tier limits the performance of all SARH/ARH missiles. I don’t see any new ARH missiles making much of a difference if only have their ARH function rather than early-course IR and midcourse IOG/DL.
with CW radars, you can chaff them.
with PD radars, you can notch them.
Oh my god I had never even considered that
I’m still used to pre-update where missiles would just ignore chaff even if the radar locked it mid flight
Guess this is just my adjustment period then RIP
thats only if the target aircraft chaffs but remains within the radar illumination cone. the missile will see the chaff but soon it disappears, then the missile sees the target again and intercepts it (provided that the target is in the illumination cone of the launching aircraft)
also helps that the R-24R has IOG so i think it might have some sort of Radar CCM lol. the predicted trajectory feature helps them a lot
Yeah I got to experience the inertial guidance last night when it followed a guy around a mountain
wait till you read about hybrid guidance missiles lol
