Hi, so I want to complain about the Aim 9M. Sometimes the missiles are like pitbulls, ignoring everything and hitting every target. Then again, oh, a flare or a teammate with ADHD incoming, rocket fired at 2.5km into the afterburner, no problem, the F15 just flies away!!! And the R27ER, it just always hits. Frontal at 500m? No problem, it hits!

The R27ER is a Semi-active radar homing missile. this means that it is manually guided with a radar lock from the plane launching it. you can completely avoid these types of missiles by keeping low to the ground. The missile will appear to keep tracking you but will just hit the ground ahead of you

so you can see the missile dip when he gets close to the ground as he goes over the hill, but as he gets seperated from the ground the missile comes back up because he is clear of the ground.

Any other radar missile besides the R27-ER wouldn’t have enough max G to make that turn or the speed needed to be fast enough to reach him, though.

R-27R still is 35G, the speed isn’t a factor in this case then. The R-27R imo shouldn’t have been added either.

And? I’ve gotten to 10.3 so I’m not new at this game, and besides that why do I need to have experience in 12.3 to say “hey why does Russia deserve to get radar missiles that are just objectively better than all other radar missiles in game? They shouldn’t have been added.”

I stated that what killed him was the R-27R not R-27ER. Never have I stated that R-27ER is not OP.
That’s exactly why. Because you lack the experience to comment on the situtation. The main thing is AIM-9M is OP and R-27ER is OP also in it’s own regards.
And how does speed factor doesn’t play a signifigacnt role in missile characteristics? It’s fundamental in BVR and exactly what makes the R-27ER so much more better than R-27R. 2M difference in speed is HUGE.

It is because their airframes are inferior to the airframes the other nations get. when the 27ER was added the Mig-29 was significantly inferior to the F-16, and even to the F-14. Now, the Su-27 is inferior to the Gripen, and has disadvantages compared to the F-15 and still will have trouble with the F-16C/D. 9M’s are far superior to R-73’s currently so it balances out. It is evident in the vehicles that you see in top teir matches, the Su-27 and J-11 are not being played half as much as the other top teir vehicles.

I find it funny when people say the AIM9M is weak yet don’t even have an R73 plane.
In all, this game comes down to timing for successful missile hits. Knowing when to launch far exceeds the capability handicaps of a missile in this game. In the SU27 I can easily get 3-5 kills, if I launch when they cannot avoid it. The R73 eats flares unless dead-on RA, so target prioritization is key. So many at top tier have no idea when to hold 'em vs when to throw them down.

r73s are literally only better in a single niche area and that’s dogfighting, the aim9m is overall better what is so hard to grasp about this
