What is this blud even waffling about the aim9m is still the strongest anti air missiles in the game except for the aam-3 which is just a aim 9m with more g’s and explosive and there is also way more vehicles which uses the aim 9m’s than the r73’s and aam-3’s

I have 9m and aam3, both are insane and should be nerfed. Literally point and click adventure when shooting it side aspect. The IRCCM is clearly overperforming

they should break all of the missiles ideally, just so air players have a harder time cause i believe they deserve it

Aim9m have a different IRCCM then Russian counter part and btw the russian once is unflarable and you can’t evade a missile if it is closer then 1500meters while aim-9m is easy to counter just pop flares (spam but slowly) and turn that way you shut down the ir seeker on the 9m and gg you just evaded it…

different=/=better, and it’s easier to flare because you just need to drop 1 or 2 when it’s first fired to distract it, this won’t work with a aim9m, you must change direction. it really sounds like you have a skill issue, your enemies don’t have better missiles you just don’t check your 6 or know when to fire.

The Magic II has been in the game a long time and only recently has it been getting closer to its real life performance.
The AAM-3 is also “nerfed” from its real life performance.
The AIM 9M is a great missile, if you have data that shows it isn’t performing as it should make a report

Guessing this is for me - 9M should pause its seeker and go by INS when flares are seen, however you can flare continuously regardless of aspect and the seeker often stays active. I’m sure it’s a great missile, but for balance reasons, its only weakness should at least be reliably exploitable. Same reason they’re keeping the magic 2 gimped with no 50G or correct IRCCM after all this time despite well sourced reports.

my man if he fires closer then 1.5 km you can flare and change direction and 90% of the time missile still tracks… so yeah skill issue is on your part if you can’t flare the 9m xD

Aim 9m based on the stats of the real missile needs to be reduced smoke but because russians currently have the r73 and r73e version american planes should get the 9x soon since the 9x was america’s answer to the r73

It is underperforming in its lock range currently, though that has no bearing on its IRCCM capabilities.

The US counterpart to the R-73 is the AIM-95, not the 9X

The agile program never got past the testing faze because the aim 9 design closed the gap so yea because of the r73 America made the 9x
No, it completed testing but was not in a favorable year for military spending so it found itself on the chopping block and continued use of the interim 9L past its life.

it wasnt the answer to the r73, the aim9m was the analogous to the r73, they kept using them until the 2000s.
