AIM-7P Behavior (Overperforming, Under BR'd)

Any missile is, not just sparrows.

At high enough speed at 5km dostance even R-3R is lethal.

it would be a MH (a M with Lofting or at least it would be if the F and M were actually different in game)

It’s literally a 7F with DL.

Not that powerful. You just have skill issue

wait till he finds out about R-27ER

No Fox-1 can loft, not in-game

Datalink can be annoying at times since it can reacquire like R27R. Against a skilled pilot, the common go into notch and re-commit tactic won’t work and they can pressure you until the merge pretty easily. I’ve died a fair share of times to Late Hornet because i thought they were the Hornet A with Mikes. Notching briefly, seeing the missiles go haywire, re committing briefly only to see the missiles do 180 and re connect.

They are still neither game breaking or over powered though. Just frustrating at times.

Capability to retarget is not even the main strength of 7Ps, its main strength comes from the fact that IOG + DL combo tard wrangles the sparrows to actually go for the locked target instead of going on their own little adventure in different part of the map, which is my main gripe with 7F/Ms.

R27ER is also at 12.7, which is far better than 7P

I agree, move the F-16s up so that I dont have to face them in the ground attackers at and around that BR, especially the early Tornado IDSs that dont even get IRCCM to defend itself

this is not the kind of topic is expected to see today very interesting take

So, R-27ER which is infinitely better missile is not an issue? What about R-77 on Su-30MKs that you also face? You are an absolute clown.

As much as I enjoy using the 7Ps they’re still slow as balls 7F clones with DL. Ain’t no way someone unironically say it’s better than 120s which is better in every way and is fire and forget.

7M with DL.

Oh, all of the above are still an issue.
That’s why we need a heavy decompression from 12.0 and up

Notching briefly, seeing the missiles go haywire, re committing briefly only to see the missiles do 180 and re connect.

Having something like a Sparrow doing 180s to recommit is insane and completely unrealistic.

7P is literally just fancy 7M that is saved from randomly skidadeling into oblivion, its an anemic 25G missile that can be barrel roll dodged. If you have issues with it you might as well cry about 7F/M which are present on 12.0, lmao

Unless 7F/M can do 180-270+ degree loops to chase after locked targets, they aren’t an issue.

oh no, how scary.

Sparrow rolling still works, you can still notch their radar, it’s seriously not that dangerous compared to an amraam or hell, the R-27ER.

The only Fox-1 capable of reliably outperforming many Fox-3s is the R-27ER.
The AIM-7 is just not good enough

it would never hit that kind of shot in any realistic scenario

Hop in to a test flight with the 18C late or 18A (whichever one you want that carries 7Ps), get a solid lock off boresight and fire, whilst retaining lock. I tried this last night and 7Ps do in fact hit and kill the MiG targets at close range in some cases. Only one out of the 6 I fired missed due to the seeker losing LOS.

Have to see a vid as they are paywall missiles and I didnt pay. Sparrows OP is definitely a new one tho
