if that existed nato wouldnt use anything but a single missile
but something like that dosent exist
there is a smaller gap of time between the AIM-9B and AIM-9L than AIM-120A and AIM-120D, but they expect us to believe the D is somehow worse kinematically

Which is exactly what the aim120 should be. A very good all rounder. Not best in any one stat, but not a slouch in any one stat either. Its never going to outpull a mica or an r77, but its not going to just outright miss by out pulling the missile within 5-10km either.

exept it isnt in the main parts it was improved upon IRL and thats range
just too bad that that is something thats irrelevant for WT
except they would still use other missiles because cost and weight limits
eg a modern amraam costs ~3x a 9x
so even if the amraam can do everything the 9x could they might still carry the 9x due to the lower cost

sure
range, seeker, kinematics were improved with the D/C-5 which is a very broad statement for improvement, yet we only see somewhat better ranged performance

dogfighting missile is a strong term, but from pilot accounts c-5 should be at least around aim9m levels of pull. then again i wouldn’t call the 9m a dogfighting missile either.

But is the D actually worse kinematically than the A?
you basically said that they are only carrying the 9x bc its cheaper than an amraam
and not bc it might be more usefull at close ranges
NATO has just wasted billions onto RnD on HOBS missiles bc the amraam already could do it all

9L is better across the board than 9B, D is slightly better than the A in very niche scenarios and is worse than the predecessor of the missile it has 50% more range than in that long range scenario
how is it worse at ranged stuff than the C-5, when it should have 50% more range than the C-7

Okay this makes sense, and is a valid reason. However, the AMRAAM has been artificially gimped since its release almost, and the 120D was said to help improve the US. It’s done nothing close to that. And if the idea to help the US was given as a longer range missle, that should have been specified instead of a blanket statement saying it will improve the US to which it a absolutely does not do that in this meta.
I find this ridiculous. NATO would not keep in using the AIM-120 if it kept getting worse throughout the years. Also just look at pilot reports of the C-5 and the in-game performance and you will see what is wrong with the AIM120-C/D. Clipped fins does not mean worse turning performance. In fact, pilots have reported that the C-5 turns as hard if not harder then a AIM-9M off the rails, yet in-game the AIM120C/D gets out pulled by an AIM-7, which is a joke. Something has to be done about the AIM-120 to address the gap between it and every other ARH missile.
How come the R-77-1 gets to be one of the best HOBS AND ONE OF THE BEST BVR Missles at the same time while the AIM-120 is not good at either(too slow and too easy to notch). At the very minimum it need a better seeker then it has right now so we can at least capitalize on its greatest strength in-game, the range it has, which right now is worthless since it’s so easy to notch.

Exactly. They they would be admitting to nerfing it for no reason and keeping it that way, and they can’t have that
Its kind of funny to think about how flankers get a missile thats a jack of all trades while AMRAAM users need to decide to fire the A or C for different situations
