If you are doing a lot of long ranged BVR, it has a larger LSZ. But beyond that, yeah, not much of a reason to use the C5 and certainly you won’t feel at a disadvantage without them.
I managed to get 2x kills at 60kms with the C5s earlier today, but 1 target didn’t even try to defend
It was probably some form of bodge job knowing the devs.
Like the wings arent clipped in the aerodynamic file so instead of remodeling the wings, they just nerfed the amount they could rotate or something. (dont quote me on that, that is just a random guess)
But would need a Tech mod to have a chat with the devs abotu that
Wing area did decrease to model the clipped wings. So it pulls less hard with same AoA and has less lift. Max AoA got decreased to the same value to match the 120A/B, so at least that is consistent.
Maybe not then, but still. Wouldnt be surprised if it was some work around shortcut, though if it was a deliberate nerf. its gunna be a bugger to report as you cant use datamined info for a report
I think they were talking about its original stats
Both the A/B originally had a higher AOA before gaijin reworked them and the C5 still had all the same original stats from back then
The nerf gaijin did on it technically wasnt a nerf it was just bringing it into line with where it should have been to begin with since they worked on it way back when the A/B were first added its just been sitting in the files until now
I wont deny though the seeker really should have been upgraded
but the better HOBS performance is still debatable its not something i know about though
I don’t see how aerodynamically it could pull more than the A/B (unless it could pull more AOA), so the only thing that could be improved if it’s claimed to have better HOBS than the A/B is the guidance delay.
Anyway, it’s just annoying that they made sure the C was basically a side grade if not a down grade to the A/B, especially by removing the better seeker.
After all, from what I have gathered on the C5, is that it is mostly an electronic upgrade other the A/B, and beside the better seeker, the game just doesn’t model missiles up to that point.
They could have variable multipath height for different missiles for example, which could give a massive upgrade to the C other the A and B.
“The AIM-120C incorporates smaller control surfaces for internal carriage on F-22 and F-35 and a high- angle off-boresight (HOBS) launch capability. AIM-120D offers improved range, GPS-assisted guidance, updated data links, and jam resistance in addition to greater lethality. Ongoing upgrades will further enhance weapon performance and electronic protection.”
I kinda wonder if the reason gaijin gimped the 120C so badly is because they gave in and added it to the eurofighter when people complained
originally it was only being added to the planes that struggled the most at top tier currently ie F/A-18 and F-15E
Hornet most of all needed it since its so slow F-15 is debatable since up close it pretty much cant do anything it has to stay at BVR
Typhoon has already been signficantly nerfed for balancing purposes. Giving the US an overwhelming advantage is simply not justified. Its also insane to argue that the only reason the C5 is so badly nerfed is because it was given to the EFTs and not that it was nerfed because it was given to the F-15E.
Unfortunately US Mains seem to think that they should be the meta nation and if anyone else is even equal to them in performance it means they are entitled to major buffs. The amount of them that were arguing that the F-15E wasnt even all that strong when it was introduced and that aircraft like the EFT should have been added alongside the F-22 was insane.
