AGM-65D and the AGM-65G the main difference

The 65D’s warhead is not a EFP though, if it would, ERA should not be interacting with it at all, its a standard HEAT warhead. I am aware that EFPs and HEAT jets are formed in the same exact way, but their projectile is fundamentally different in construction and penetrative effects.

If this was the case then no HEAT warhead in game should overpressure.

I have a feeling it may be a (direct / machine) translation issue.

The ejecta lance is still formed by an explosive, so Explosively Formed Projectile is a potential direct transcription, even if we do assign it to its own distinct category of Self Forging Fragments in English.

Even then though, if trick is not speaking about proper EFPs, then it still should overpressure, because every other HEAT projectile already does. The 65’s HEAT warhead does not operate in a vastly different way than to say a TOW, or MILAN.

This warhead is one of the largest in game, if the myriad of vastly smaller ATGMs can overpressure with no issue, I cant see a reason why the 65’s HEAT warhead cant do the same.

For Balance reasons, they really went about it in a weird way; the seekers on the Maverick are overperforming, and the Warhead, neutered.

They really need an overhaul to make it work properly.

Nah, if there was a need for balance we would not be seeing the SU-25s being armed with what they just got.

The Maverick has been stiflingly mid since it came to be, they are not the best A2G option for the US by a large margin and if gaijin really did not want them reaching out as far as they do, all they needed to do was not give planes TGPs along with them.

This is a willing oversight at this point it seems, it should be held to the same standard as every other HEAT missile in the game, but it is not, for a frankly unknown reason at this point.

I can see some parallels to the TOW-2B as well, given the 2B is still missing it’s second warhead and is not penetrating it’s warhead width, two things that it should have had a long time ago, but due to backlash gaijin has just voided the poor 2B into obscurity and forgotten about it.

I have a question, is it normal that the 65G is much heavier than the 65D while its explosive charge is lower ? Is it because the booster is heavier, or the guidance system ?

Most of the weight of the warhead on the G is like the casing around the explosive for fragmentation purposes. I believe this is also the reasoning behind HEAT not getting good overpressure damage unlike HE (that are almost always HE-FRAG). Zunis, I believe, are modelled as HEAT-FRAG and as result do get good overpressure, or at least the fragmentation part really makes it effective for its HE content, much like comparable HE weapons.

Well in this game logic AGM-65G work against MBT better than D that have higher pen funny isn’t it?
