AGM-65 Reduced Gimble Limit & How Gaijin Makes Their Changes

This forums is made to answer some very basic quesitons.

  1. Why are AGM65s being nerfed?
  2. How did Gaijin come to applying such changes? (based off of data? real world performances?)
  3. Why are Russian equipment getting better while American are getting worse?

The reason I pose these questions is to understand why AGM65s are being nerfed and what information has caused such nerf to indulge Gaijin to reduce the performance of the missile.

The last question beckoning how American equipment, as a whole, are being reduced in performance, effectivity and competitivness (In Context of top teir) while counterparts are being increased in performance and effectivity?
-Russian CAS missiles such KH varients compared to American AGMS
-Assumed lack of armour value (Abrams)
-Additional (Ghost) armor within Russian vehicles which reduce spall

Im not aware of any recent nerfs, but there are a number of bug reports that were accepted a while ago and Gaijin is still ignoring.

Yeah, good question, Given KH-38MT dont exist IRL. It is time for everyone else to get KH-38 equivalent A2G weapons.

Um… what?
AGM-65s haven’t changed negatively according to datamines.

That’s stark difference from what I’ve experienced using AGM65s.

  1. They are unable to hit even near center of target.
  2. Reduced FoV of targeting box to desginate and fire AGM-65
  3. Comparitive performance compared to counter part in live game (At least comparitive to the ones modeled without gaijins extensive changes), KH series missiles, AASM 250 HAMMER

I have great doubts that will happen. This is gaijin we are speaking about.

I am curious as to why certain Bug Reports are being accepted without any feed back from devs as to why changes aren’t being made or lack thereof.

Nope.

There are a number of accepted reports from everything from weapons to vehicles that just never get looked at. At this point. Im convinced that reports are ignored purely for balancing reasons.

Well, the Hammer is a precision-guided bomb, so it’s only natural that it has high firepower I partially agree that Maverick is weak, but I think the D/G type is reasonably strong.

And I assume, because Gaijin continues to improve KH missiles performance this is also to improve the “balancing” as well?

AGM-65s accross the baord are missing about 5km of usable range and compared to the KH-38MT and AASM have around 1/3 the max range (though in-game they are usually limited to more like 30km due to game limitations but that is still more than the AGM-65)

The biggest difference though is the lack of IOG. Both AASM and KH-38 will continue to target if the target smokes. AGM-65s self destruct. That is a major difference.

AGM-65 is an effective weapon up to about 11.7/12.0 imo. But past 12.0… woefully underpowered.

Haven’t they changed some zoom and FoV stats quite recently? And yea, missile itself might not change that much, but the game around it had, as he mentioned about the hit point inconsistency.

Probably, soviet vehicles dont really follow the rules of the other 9 nations.

Like LMURs having the correct flight path and impact angle, whilst everyone else still has incorrect flight paths despite reports dating back a few years

This is probably the only “nerf” I can think of recently.

The missile performance hasnt necessarily changed by the context is night and day compared to the beginning of the year.

yea the only change within the last year or two was the damage was buffed, and the launch angle limit was added, those are the only two changes that I know

TV and IIR seekers also got quite a decent overhaul, with them now actually being reasonably usable without a tpod. Though that is more than just AGM-65s

and they made intercepting munitions a lot easier. being a slow missile, that was quite a nerf for the AGM-65 I think

Do we know what data Gaijin utilized to make such changes? Namely - The FoV reduction

I dont know, im just a AGM65 user and i didt look deep into it

the FoV limit is a little anoying though, i dislike the change but its not that bad

Gotcha. I’m a little baffled that the difference in FoV from other missiles are starkly different.

I’d like to know what Gaijin based the changes off to make it a change in its own, since we 've answred that as time went on AGM65s decreased in competitiveness

AGM65 has never been good at top tier lol, its very potent in lower BR like 9.0 - 11.3 but above that it sucks.

1- That is the same for all F&F missiles in the game, no exceptions.
It’s a random location around the center of the model as a way to improve lethal hit chances.
2- AGM-65s do not reduce FOV. No IR AGM does because all the ones on the fixed-wing aircraft are AGM-65D seekers with different motors and control surfaces.
Yes, even Kh-38MT and Hammer are using the AGM-65D seeker in-game because both use programmed LOAL IRL with a LOAL range of ~1.5km each.

@ShOt_MaCkEr
Zoom wouldn’t change seeker sensitivity, so it wouldn’t be a nerf or buff to the missile itself.
It’s at “worst” an impact to your personal target acquisition, which will be deeply personal from person to person.

@Make_a_wish_kid
Launch angle limits have been a thing since at least F-4E’s AGM-65B introduction… So IDK if you mean something else.

You misunderstand. When I speak of FOV, as I’ve clarified in prior responses:

I speak of reduced FOV window which the player needs to have the AGM designated to be able to launch the missile. - Which has been reduced from a previous update. As the window was larger in size for the player to point the nose of an aircraft and shoot without the constraints of a smaller box to fire the missile.

If it makes it easier to understand as an example:
Think of the gunner sight in a helicopter gunner display, which the gunner needs to maintain the missiles direction of flight at the designated target to be hit. If the view of the gunner is outside the box which the missile can launch and be designated to its target, the missile cannot fire.

That is the “FoV” which I am referencing.

But the difference being that the KH and Hammer missile is able to track targets within smoke and the AGM65 is not, is that correct?
