yes you are right, mine was just a brief summary not a full list
we all know that unfortunately different rockets or gbu are often skipped by devs. The opher is something different and interesting but there are few info regarding how it works. you know we passed all the info available to smin more than an year ago.
Well, now that Great Britain is getting not one but two Hawks at 10.7 and 11.0 respectively each with 4x AGM-65 Maverick, I believe it’s time to discuss the AMX Ghibli, it’s weaponry, and it’s BR.
The most glaring difference is that the AMX Ghibli is at 11.0 GRB and despite being in game for almost two years it’s most advanced A-2-G weapons remain laser guided bombs. These require you to fly overhead of the enemy in a restricted flight envelope and can only guide one bomb at a time. Bomb arrival time increases with altitude, so successful deployment of 4x LGBs at ideal altitude can take the AMX Ghibli several minutes of flying back and forth directly overhead of enemy anti-air.
In contrast the Hawk and other AGM-65 capable aircraft around this BR can scan, acquire and fire at 4 or more different targets in just a few seconds. The fire and forget capability allows the strike aircraft to evade incoming fire and immediately return to base for rearm, all the while the weapons guide themselves onto the target. AGM-65 can be deployed from several kilometers range, depending on weather conditions.
As such I believe the BR of AMX Ghibli is too high for it’s now obsolescent weaponry. It should either get some kind of fire and forget weaponry, or it’s BR should decrease. I prefer the former, as Italy has no aircraft with this capability until 12.0.
The most obvious and well-documented fire and forget weapon is the Opher, a Israeli IR-guided bomb. It was deployed operationally on AMX. It would be inferior to AGM-65 but it’s the most likely to be added.

IMO the best solution for gameplay balance would be to give 4x AGM-65 Maverick, as these have been pictured on pre-production aircraft.

Completely agree. Also what about the AS-30L? It’s not FnF but it is listed in the brochures iirc and could be a nice option to add along with the Opher and Mavs.
Since HAWK is receiving the Sea Eagles, we could ask for the Kormorans for the AMX — they were tested on the prototype. I’ll post a photo tonight.
A-11A can not get maverick, that was only the AMX international prototype
As for Opher it would be decent as it is IR guided, but the thing is it would completely take your ability to use LGBs.
The A-11A only used 2x Opher on the fueselage pylon which would remove ability for using CLDP to target. A-11A could also get Lizard-2 which would be the same as Paveway
The real plane we need is A-11B ACOL, which would have better targeting pod, JDAMs, and Lizard IV (essentially a Paveway IV)
Also as for right now, the plane is still great at it’s br and it’s usually 5 guaranteed kills if you use it will and use it’s advantages of being nimble
Sure we should get the ACOL but also the prototype with Mavs. The more the merrier
Prototype is what we need, I think we could get the ACOL to replace the Brazilian A-1A, and then we get the AMX international at a higher br.
Either way, AMX international would be great, it could carry practically every western guided weapon from the 80s and 90s
(Mb if I sounded like I was advocating against the Mavericks, I want all the planes we can get too)
But on the topic of Mavericks, a great option for low tier like 10.0 would be the MB-339CD, it could essentially be an Italian counterpart to A-10 and Su-25. Also the M-345 could be a good low tier option, it also has very interesting guided weapons.
Then at high tier to be the successor to the A-11 obviously we should get the M-346FA
I apologize if I’m asking a stupid question, but did the AMX International (in any variant) have an internal engine starting system (gas turbine starter, hydrazine cartridge starter, auxiliary power unit, etc)?
