The addition of a search pulse Doppler mode for aircraft such as F2, SU30SM/MKM etc that only have access to TWS would be very beneficial for those aircraft, in my personal opinion, whilst aircraft fitted with similar radar types AESA and PESA, such as all variants of Eurofighter and Rafale and golden eagle, have a search PD function
Do those aircraft have that mode for the radar they have?
TWS is PD TWS on modern aircraft in game. Its just not labeled as such for some reason.
In theory they should have mode interleaving where they automatically switch between pulse and pulse doppler, but iiec thats not implemented on TWS locks.
When has Gaijin cared about historical accuracy? The F-16AJ exists, 3 of the russian topteir battleships, Yak-141 weapon choices, MiG-29 9.12/9.13 lacking R-73s etc, the nature of Russian and Chinese ERA
i mean, having a dedicated mode like the SRC PD on those TWS-only aircraft would make then alittle more user-friendly, at least with me personally i prefer the use of SRC PD over TWS for everything that isn’t missile slinging at long range
why would they need it? toptier TWS is already extremely good and doesn’t alert the enemy when u have a soft-lock on them.
SRC PD only limits the aircraft to a simple bar that u can select to hard-lock the enemy. u can’t know exactly where the enemy is, just know that it’s there somewhere and ur radar detected it.
not having SRC PD in toptier isn’t important at all and it would just make players choose TWS before spawning.
Most people who use TWS mainly have it auto-selected anyway; it may be a skill issue, but I prefer aircraft like the Eurofighter or FA-18s because I get the option of using search PD mode, which gives me more flexibility. I want to play stuff for the SU-30SMs/MKM and F-2, but only having TWS just makes it unappealing
Im going to take that as a “no”.
i mean realistically, we don’t know
how can SRC PD mode give u “more flexibility”? u need an unnecessary hard-lock to launch a Fox-3 while u can just use a soft-lock with the TWS mode.
means I can shoot at the target i actaully want to shoot at with the FOX-3, and also allow me to keep my radar on without my radar randomly rockets, missiles, dead aircraft, etc. when I’m trying to shoot IR missiles at people and not randomly screwing up the radar disk scan angle
i’m patiently waiting till Gaijin adds a new mechanic or smth so TWS doesn’t detect missiles as potential targets (tho i like the idea of locking them if u don’t have time to start a notch or just don’t wanna notch) and TWS becomes useable again.
whatever i still don’t understand why u prefer an inferior radar mode that works in a very primitive way, but if u like it then idk use it.
I just play much better then i have it as an option, prefer it over TWS in about 95% of situations
TWS is kinda meh for me personally
Like I said in other topic, lack of standard search modes on F-2 is biggest drawback
While you do get less info with SRC PD it 1) doesn’t slew your radar and 2) it doesn’t slave your Fox2 missile seeker
maybe it’s cuz i stopped playing toptier for a while, i currently just returned with the Su-27SM (which is the worst Flanker imo) and tbh i prefer TWS. u lose a lot of time selecting a target, hard-locking it, launching a missile, switching target, hard-locking again, etc. and u aren’t going to spend all day soft-locking/hard-locking a target to launch a missile at the perfect distance, u just switch to the nearest target, launch a Fox-3, PRAY IT HITS, and keep launching Fox-3s till ur Data Link has enough work to do. when i play Su-30SM2 i usually launch 6 R-77-1s, keep 2 of them in case i need them for close-range, and 2 R-27ERs cuz broken radar with the widest scanning area ingame.
for me TWS is like a quick FnF mode to launch and instantly choose another enemy to keep raining hell over them.
