Adding helicopter's to SB for better helicopter immersion and a better helicopter grind

I said exactly why I don’t have much time in RB/Sim in helicopters.

You don’t have ANY time in sim.

if you spent any time in sim you’d see that heli pilots games consist of fighting other helis, planes, capping, scouting and occasionally killing tanks…

you should try it.

Why you attack? He just sad its a good idea wich is true.
Maby he doesnt have much time in sim, but what is so bad about it? If he has a opinion about something hes free to tell. After all if helis were added we can get new players in the game wich is good for everyone.
And if you see a player that wanna play sim you shouldnt attack him because he might be unskilled.

just pointing out that far too many people post they ‘had an amazing idea!’ but don’t have the knowledge or experience to back it up…

Maps are too big, helicopters are too slow, planes kill the low ones, TY-90s kill the high jets…

Highlighting someone’s zero game time for something they’re advocating isn’t an ‘attack’

I don’t know the specifics of WT Heli flights models but in RL I do fly General Aviation Airplanes and I’m a Glider flight instructor, I was always surprised how much quicker helicopter pilots are to take mastering of gliders (they requires a lot of rudder work) while all other pilots including military do struggle for a while to coordinate with rudder.

So one day I decided to invest some (a lot!) money to get 2 hrs of helicopter training in a Robinson R22, I was surprised how easy the transition was in only 2 hrs I was able to hover and transition to forward flight and back to hover holding it as precisely as I wanted. Anyway all of this rant to say that WT give me the best heli feeling based on my RL limited experience in Simulation mode I ever experienced in a sim including DCS and it is a damn waste that there isn’t a good way to use helis in a Simulation mode.

Make it a new mode such as Heli only EC or implement the more complete and promising mode voted by this topic but PLEASE GIVE US A WAY TO USE HELIS!
You invested a lot of work on modeling those let them fly

I see a lot of arguments about whether or not you can get a good radar lock on a non moving target, or how you can deal with something that turns on a dime or whatnot. How much perfect hovering are you actually doing? How much time are you spending in transit? How long does it take you to go from moving forward to a perfect hover?

I also see people saying that they worry about camping. Is it actually going to be worse than it already is? The effective range on base SAMs is better than most helicopter munitions. If you try to hide low, its a wide open space and the AA guns will get you… hell, convoy AA nips me when i fly less than a couple km over them.
Yes, you can systematically eliminate the AA systems from airfields… guess what, that is a thing that sim lets you do easily with tv missiles and glide bombs.

There is a video out there where someone actually tests whether a helicopter would struggle or not… I cannot remember the channel name or video title and is now pretty much scrubbed away for me…

But I am making my own post about this but I am making it about the grind, where people can join Air SB to grind their helis instead of anything else

Yeah sadly that video is no longer available. It’s a shame it was a pretty good test to see how they would fair in sim match.

i agree with this I think however that airfiields need a mix of close in aa and long range aa
so for red4 2s6, buk and pansir for blue4 gerpard, roland, and the british long range system and spread around the map the irst and the chinese vertical launch system in batteries
then helicopters can hunt them or f117s…

What would also be cool is if VTOL aircraft could also take-off from helipads but must be under a specific weight to be able to spawn, even if they can take-off with that load, I want it more for balancing but that restriction can be removed at a later time when it isn’t so necessary

It’s not a hard addition either. Attach a helipad spawn to the main AFs/make the bombing targets into heli FOBs, checkmark “Is Airfield”, set the unit spawn type limit as helicopter and maybe VTOL, add to spawn list, done.

I’ve just started tinkering with the CDK and I’ve been able to do that. When the CDK doesn’t crash itself because of bad asset texture location calls built into it.

They could even just take the Heli spawns from GRB and just use those to start and then expand FOBs for helicopters and VTOLs

If it doesn’t make them money. They don’t care. It’s as simple as that. That’s why they never if at all, rarely ever update sim.

At this point. Enjoy Air Simulator for what it is. Not what it can become. Yes, it’s dying, it gets boring or repetitive at certian BR. And it’s buggy sometimes. But they don’t care and they won’t do anything. If they cared, they would announce Air Simulator battles separately from Realistic.

This could make them money though, a lot of it and not for much work for even a single person to do.

This would give people 3x the reason to play helicopters, meaning people with buy Heli premiums to grind the tree which is already quite annoying to grind even with help from ground vehicles

Air Simulator battles isn’t their main priority. Arcade and Realistic are. That’s where they make their money. It’s that simple.

Welcome to the Catch-22 of WT’s Simulator modes, which is what we’re trying to counter.
Most of the devs don’t want to work on it because they’re told by the bean counters it doesn’t have the returns/doesn’t hold interest, so any potential returns to be gained by introducing additional paying customers are lost before it could happen, repeat ad infinitum.

Still is something that can be used for the Realistic EC mode they had put together and live trialed some time ago. And that was also sidelined because of their perceived lack of player attention… after they had buried it in several layers of menus with minimal presentation.
