Add Friendly Vehicle Markers in Ground Sim

Ground sim is something I would like to get into because im a bit disastified with the current state of RB with how scouting and 3rd person camera view heavily affects how it is being played. But ground sim as a mode is effectively dead, que times are atrocious right now.

I believe the reason for sim being so unpopular is for average and especially new players team killing basically completely deters them from trying the mode, the mixed MM even if separated into redfor/bluefor has a ton of vehicles to learn, and the game is currently plastered with captured and other goofy vehicles that make friend/foe identification an extremely daunting process for most players.

While you can identify friendly targets via range finding, its cumbersome to say the least. Its not very fun dealing with it not working, or even when it does taking seconds to work.

I would like to see either a simple blue chevron appear over friendly targets when aiming over them in sights, or 3rd person. Or I would like to see the mini map have friendly targets displayed on it, or both.

I think either of these would go a long way to help more players get into ground sim matches with less stress over teamkilling, and help breathe some life into the mode. Having a healthier population and getting to the point where it only takes 1-2 minutes to get into a match would help a lot.

No, but Gaijin does need to give more information in game about how to IFF tanks, and the information it gives you needs to be more clear.

I think having the IFF tied to your commander’s skill make it a bit more interesting. Like for example, you stay still for a couple seconds and just look at an unidentified tank then the commander will shout what tank it is and whether or not its friendly.

Will go a long way to solving the “C&P” problem when it comes to sim. Dont even need like any visual markers, just pure audio, we already have it in the game might as well use it.

[Also in that note, subtitles would honestly be a great QoL improvement]

If they added markers then I cannot play those exported vehicle and use it as an traitor. I pretend I am on the enemy team them betrayed them… Then my allies teamkill me… Those player who teamkill are normally those that did not request position from allies.

I dont play sim but maybe a button to send a radio message to the tank you are aiming at for iff? the friendly can reply like how you get a notif to say thanks after getting help repairing

Voting no on this.

Those are some big changes. It’s ok for sim to be different. I don’t think teamkilling is anything to stress about. It’s also ok for there to be some barriers to entry.

I think anyone who wants to play more ground sim gets used to not having markers and not killing teammates after just a few games. Getting teamkilled is just part of the mode.

Just play and don’t worry about teamkilling or whatever. I teamkill people constantly. Don’t worry about it, just shoot them. After a while you’ll be able to tell where everyone is on the map (teammates and enemies) based on killfeed, scoreboard, sounds, capture notifications, map timings, radio callouts, etc and you won’t teamkill as much.

The gamemode settings effectively ‘slow down’ gameplay in ground sim. Limited respawns make you cautious, first spawn aircraft can deter early rushes and flanks, and the lack of markers makes you hesitate. I think adding chevrons and/or map markers would “speed up” ground sim. That’s a big change.

If you look at player counts for milsim games on steam, they make up only a small portion of total steam players. I think in any playerbase, that type of gamemode will only ever attract a small portion of players. That’s just the way it is.

This already exists, you hit the rangefinder button and wait a few seconds and it tells you if theres allies there
