Add Distance Ruler, Drawing Tool & Map Annotations

this could make a very needed IDF/BLOS artillery meta
Currently i do it sometimes with a ruler and the Pythagoras theory, but this would make it more accurate

One small change: the precision of the ruler needs to be changed a bit. Currently showing exact range when paired with squad pings makes for a LRF without a rangefinder essentially. How about you don’t get a measurement/rounded to the nearest hundred if you don’t have a rangefinder, rounded to nearest 10 with an optical one, and precise numbers with an LRF

IRL artillery has its own tech that is similar to rangefinders, i think vehicles that have a gps based rangfinder should get a lrf equivalent, older map range finding tech should be like a stereoscopic rangefinder, and nothing should be - nothing, same range finding time as a regular no rangefinder time

then we also could get the m1156, m982 and many more gps guided artillery ammunition

there is one way to measure distance since this update you can use the laser box if you plane has one and see the distance to a target very useful in nuclear escalation

Would also be useful to be able to share you permanent map markers files with other people so they can also find your OP spots. The ruler would be useful for artillery and future infantry madness. Reminds me of how some E-sport player one time brought a ruler in to a match in order to make the most useless system work (a mortar) won but got banned and the win cancelled.

The other thing would be pins that appear on the map for your version / side of the map for spots, known danger zones, and paths to take. Being able to share that information file would be great this system would be great if we get some super sized maps for infantry mode.

got banned for being creative and smart, i have gotten so many (5) arti-spaa snipes using the Pythagoras theorem and a war thunder map meter to irl cm conversion table

i wonder what those grid lines on the map are for??? and that funny scale ruler looking thing in the corner… 🤔🤷‍♂️

the ping on the map and eyeballing it with the gris square size is plenty.

Also against anything that could cause WT to have a WOT like artillery problem. Ill take the direct fire HE hell this game is over that any day

with my suggested way of doing it, its not broken

I’d love this to fire ARMs from within my range limit; and beyond the enemy’s radar/missile limit to play it safe. gib

This is something that I’ve thought about in addition to my Combined Arms EC suggestion, since there’s only so much you can indicate with a 3-second ping or rough estimate in your head when the total grid coverage goes from 3.75km2 to 128km2.

I like it.

FYI if I remember the story right the issue was argued the ruler was a rule braking tool the players where to use all available tools provided. AKA they gave you the computer, keyboard, & mouse so no one could bring a hacked mouse or something so ya it did violate the rule everyone agreed upon. Though its funny the game had a mechanic where to use it properly you need a ruler. (get ranging in a few seconds and more accurate)

yea, (map meters)/(ruler cm) to get the conversion, it is fun with arti

Agreed, indirect fire will be far to annoying to deal with like with what loner does. People can still estimate distances with the grids on the map. However, other map annotations like arrows showing flanking routes or where enemies are headed may be a good addition.

if they are scouted, a littler direction arrow on the scout mark could be intresting

This would be a very nice feature

If action could be done really fast, like few different placeable on map icons
