Add a visual indicator for amphibious ground vehicles in matches, as well as to other UI areas.

[Would you like to see this in-game?]
  • Yes, more or less as presented
  • Yes, and it needs to be even more obvious and in more places
  • Yes, but it should be more subtle, such as only in-match and not in the hangar or tech tree

As of the time of writing, there are 69 ground vehicles that are amphibious and can freely enter water of any depth without drowning and will instead float and and can drive around like a boat and fire their weapons as normal. I personally had no idea that this functionality was implemented in more than just a couple dedicated ground vehicles, and furthermore, I have no idea how to find out in-game which are or are not amphibious (right now only the Wiki has the full list). The

The effectiveness of amphibious vehicles is an entirely separate debate that goes more into map design than anything else, but I would at least like to be able to quickly know weather or not my tank is amphibious without just having to guess based on its design or trial and error. Here are some quick mock-ups for where I would like to amphibious iconography:

In-match (deactivated/on land):

In-match (active/in water):

In the hangar x-ray view on the transmission stats:

In the tech-tree and lineup cards:

The specific iconography, placement, etc. are just quick and dirty photoshop and or course suggestions for better functionality, placement, design, etc. are all welcome.

Update: I’m adding a new image with additional details, see below:

Now of course I do know that this stats card is changing very soon with the Ninth Wave update, I just don’t have the dev server update running on my game. But I beleive the new stat cards do include a “Features” section, and I believe that amphibiousness should be added there to applicable vehicles.

I like it, but I don’t think it should be underneath the icon in the hangar. Otherwise +1

Yeah, I agree, and that was a last minute addition. I just wanted to play around with different areas it could go, but the hanger icon is a little distracting. But with the new stat cards coming out, I think adding it to those would make a lot of sense, along with the other “features.”

A little emblem could go a long way especially if we get Deep wading equipment and encouraging people to use these special equipment.

I updated the original post to add an image on my idea for stat card updates as well. I know that the Ninth Wave is coming with new stat cards, this is just an idea for info and placement.
