1. Introduction
Every nation in War Thunder has its own distinct crew models for aircraft and ground vehicles. These models are detailed and give each nation its own character, yet players can see them only during battles or in test-drive sessions. In the hangar, where most time between matches is spent, these crews remain entirely unused and invisible.
To make better use of the existing assets and add a subtle sense of atmosphere without modifying any vehicle models, I would like to propose adding an optional standing crew formation positioned beside the selected vehicle in the hangar.
2. The Idea
The concept is simple:
- When a vehicle or aircraft is selected in the hangar, its crew would appear standing in a formation at a fixed, safe distance from the machine.
- The distance and placement would be universal, so no per-vehicle adjustments would be required despite the large number of models.
- The crew could represent a short briefing or orders being given by the commander.
- They might have light idle animations (adjusting equipment, shifting stance, receiving instructions), adding life to the hangar without becoming intrusive.
- The feature would be optional, toggled on or off in the game settings according to player preference.
