ADATS, what Gaijin got wrong

ah

I provided the document added too and I am pretty sure the staff member I called out can go back and check it up.

Ive tried to find information on ADATS missile variants but i never could find anything other than the one primary variant
Where is this Mk 3 that you speak of with 12km of range?

Very interesting
I assume the version we have in game and what was ultimately used IRL too is just the Mk1/2 variant
Is there any other variants aside from this?

Tbh, idk. I dont even know what defines Mk 2. I think it’s safe to assume US and Early Canadian one are Mk 1, while Mk 2 would be a some kind of Canadian upgrade later in it’s service.
Might have to do with things like 20 TWS targets that Can one could do, while US had max 10.

Honestly i would love if gaijin added the MMEV as a ADATS successor and it could include the Mk 3 missile
while 12km isnt a huge upgrade from the 10km we already have it would give the effective range a nice boost since i find the ADATS is generally more of a 8km missile because past that it loses so much control
Plus now with the tracer change the missile is even harder to guide that far out…

But i would also love if gaijin just straight up fixed the ADATS to begin with before we worry about adding a new top tier SPAA

Recently watched an old stream about the Imperial Navy update" Teaser / War Thunder 1.89. In this patch, ADATS was released, it was at BR 10.0 and you know that it could lock on to targets from the third person and the missiles were faster and more maneuverable and all this was at 10.0, 2S6 was also at this BR, in terms of characteristics these are very similar to each other SAMs, but time passed and ADATS was nerfed and now ADATS is at 11.7 and its direct competitor is at 10.7, how did this happen? This is despite the fact that 2S6 can lock on to a target from the outside and intercept Mavericks. Why is there such a huge gap between these SAMs? This is a whole 1BR.

At this BR ADATS is useless, I don’t see it in battles anymore. It disappeared. ADATS has a lot of problems, starting from the inflated BR and constant nerfs. It is simply not effective. Its BR should be at 10.7.

Yeah i dont really like using the ADATS anymore after everything thats happen to it
I find im more effective in a LAV-AD than the ADATS
I dont have my hopes up that gaijin will ever fix the ADATS and america doesnt even really have anything else that could replace it either since IRL america just kinda does not rely on SHORAD systems like the ADATS
Its either CAP or patriot systems or any other multi vehicle system

The newest SHORAD we service right now is basically just a stryker with stingers and hellfires Neither of which would be able to replace the ADATS
SLAMRAAM also isnt a viable option either IMO because of the way fox 3 missiles are implemented in the game
Plus a Aim-120 while good on a jet loses alot of its range/energy when its launched from the surface

I brought up the MMEV maybe gaijin could implement that with its full capability for both US and britain as a ADATS successor but still i doubt it
I also worry aswell the community would complain about giving it to US since its a canada only vehicle therefore only britain can get it despite the fact US does not really have any other options…

Not directly, but 30mm HE-VT / Hellfire or 70mm HE-VT & HEAT (APKWS II), and 16~25km Hemispherical AESA coverage absolutely could fulfill the munition interception role quite handily, with the Sgt. Stout (M-SHORAD increment 1) and other C-UAS platforms, with similar capabilities in different form factors.

Also sufficient reports exist to completely overhaul the Stinger, raising it to 22G’s overload, adding the Optical Contrast Lock-On mechanic , and extending the lock on range to 6.5km.

Watch out, that’s fake. Flat plate AESA can’t have over 45 degree of FoV to one side. Gaijin developer.

The radar array is comprised of 4x RPS-42 elements placed at 90 degrees around the hull (angled backwards at about 45~60 degrees), as can be seen in the above image in order to provide complete coverage.

The RPS-42 claims -10 thru +70 degrees of elevation.

Gaidzins have already tried to explain that the US and other Western countries have abandoned the mobile SAM system and switched to a full-fledged SAM system consisting of a radar, stations, and a launcher. And the US has shifted air defense tasks to aircraft with FOX-3, but in our game an aircraft with FOX-3 costs a little less than with Mveriks and GBUs. 750 points for an air defense aircraft, versus Pantsir S1 for 90 points.

Well, The Black Night APS radar also has hemispherical coverage, but developer said flat plate AESA radar achieve ±45 degree, so it is impossible for it to be hemispherical.

For the US, there is only one option: Patriot missile defense. Or reduce the respawn points for aircraft with AIM-120, give at least 2 missiles but for 200 points.

Or the MIM-23, but that doesn’t exactly solve the issue due to marginally improved performance over the ADATS (pending configurations (-23A, -23B or later) for which we have data, range is somewhere between 14~20km) and splitting TELAR roles over a multitude of vehicles at least for the US implementation.

If they give it (missile) the same performance as they did in the “Test Flights” after the update then it should be good. Fighting the Adats inside 4 miles in Test Flights after the update is a pretty good challenge now.

So is the Mk.III faster than the one now or just further range?

Whatever Mach 3+ means.
Note that base ADATS is also 3+ rated.
