Please do as both @Thenighthunter and @condor777645-psn said… It is alright to give examples and mention other vehicles since the game is tied between them but if the discussion goes too far then just cut it or move it elsewhere. This thread is specifically made for the ADATS and its issues, therefore keep it that way.

The ADATS thermal is the same one used on the Apache(AH-64 i think) which has much higher resolution compare to tank thermals which mean that the ADATS should atleast get gen 2 thermal to compensate
and also i dont think gen 1 thermal with that resolution would qualified and works well against spotting enemies plane since the ADATS goals is to spot and accurately kill which it succeed at, even in quite horrid weather condition(sandstorm, winter, clouds)

Gaijin determines Gen based on technology (mostly), and adats uses either 120 or 180 (I don’t remember) common type module, that falls under Gen 1 in game.

There is a chance that CanDATS was upgraded to Gen 3, but I do not have any concrete proof.
even if it does i doubt gaijin would give it to the ADATS
or it would take 2 years atleast to do so
They have an arbitrary Gen 1+ category of thermal that is allowed for helicopters. The AH-64 has the same optics as ADATS but higher zoom and resolution.
tbh id love for ADATS to have gen 2 thermal, accurate or not it should be close

Why is there no option to switch to TV tracking? I’m tired of being able to SEE enemy planes and not being able to lock.
TV tracking in game is just worse IR tracking, it seems to be the same code just with lower sensitivity. That is why.
It already has TV/IR tracking; there would be no change.
That wont change anything. The fact you can see something does not mean you can track it. ADATS has a hard limit of 10km as of now, so changing to TV will do nothing. Better, TV has much worse lock ranges compared to IR, meaning changing it from IR to TV would be a nerf.
There are a few weather conditions where IRST does not work AT ALL. I’d still like the option (we are talking sub 10km) I just checked replay and the aircraft was 4 miles
yeah ADATS lock is just abysmal, cant lock any munnitions properly

In real life, is there a reason to use TV over IR?
probably some niche atmospheric condition were TV will be able to track buy IR wont
I just want the ADATS to get a full belt of APFSDS, especially since it got the ammo count massively decreased for the gun. A mixed belt of APDS doesn’t work well at top tier. With it having a short range compared to other top tier AA, it makes sense to let it at least be deadlier at close ranges.

it was design to fire normal ap round and apds but since the high fire rate apds is the best case scenarios here
they should expand the capacity of it tho
