As the title suggests, the ADATS needs to be reduced in BR. At it’s current state, it cannot effectively compete against 11.7/12.0 (and some 11.3) CAS.
Here’s why:
Poor Search Radar (only 20 degrees of elevation)
Can only track using IRST (needs full LOS, cannot track targets over clouds)
No TWS (cannot effectively transition from one target to another)
Tracer-less missiles (it’s good that the enemy can’t see the missiles, but so can’t you making guiding them difficult)
Restrictive missile elevation (sight is linked to the gun which doesn’t allow for tracking targets that are above you)
This is not to say that the ADATS has it’s up sides, the issue is that there is only a few:
high performing missiles against planes (good speed, maneuverability and beam riding)
multi-purpose (can go against tanks although struggles against any top tier tank)
has a cannon (good against lightly armored vehicles. poor against low flying aircraft. mediocre against helicopters)
these high performing missiles are stuck on a very terrible platform and it anti-tank capabilities are mediocre at best.
I’m aware that there has been bug reports made which would fix some things but we shouldn’t judge a vehicle on how it should perform but rather how it’s currently performing.
Reducing it to 11.3 would be ideal. 11.0 might be too low in my opinion.
This isn’t to say that other spaa at this BR shouldn’t be reduced as well. A lot of spaa at this BR are over BR’d.
what do you guys think?
In addition what would be a good 12.0 spaa for the US that’ll make it competitive like the Pantsir?
Well considering how versatile the 2S6 is and its at 10.7, I have no issues seeing it at 10.3 or 10.7 (depends how much better it is compared to the Strela).
As mentioned before, a lot of 11.7 spaa are over BR’d
well it ultimately depends how good enemy CAS is. when playing against the ADATS in my Su39 (or the Su24), I fire my agms at a high altitude. Because of the Kh-29’s angle of attack, usually it goes above the ADATS search radar making them unaware of the threat.
With that being said, the ADATS is definitely a threat once your within 6km which is why taking out spaa is my first priority. I’ve been doing missile jousting with the vikhrs and it’s been working well against rolands but I have yet to try it on the ADATS.
It can take out tanks yes, but that’s assuming you have the opportunity to do so. You don’t have a stabilizer, you need to stop and the majority of maps are small which forces you to play defensively or stationary which is a death sentence for spaa.
The real question is how much do we value it’s anti-tank capabilities? It’s anti-tank capabilities is nothing to write home about. Both it’s penetration and overall damage can be outdone by the likes of the Kornets. The only thing it has going for it is its speed. It’s anti-air capabilities though good is but like I said before, it’s mounted on a poor platform where it cannot handle 11.3/11.7 and 12.0 CAS
Rarely played this thing so can’t comment much, the missile do have quite some blast radius because it can detonate in mid-air then jets/heli from other postcode will simply die lol I do however wondering why something that doesn’t even have stab is at 11.7, it can go down for sure but I have like very little matches in it so what do I know. One can argue that it has great AT ability due to the missiles, but we have something better at 9.0 like the AFT-09
Pointless (for Britain) since 11.7 Britain is seriously eating so damn good (since the recent decompression round) to the point that you’d just uptier it to 11.7, either way.
I ain’t expert as I haven’t played ADATS for once so not like I can judge much, but dropping it to 10.3-11.0 is like overkill no? Ik the thing requires like lock on the target to lead the thing properly and it does not provide that braindead gameplay the ARH missile SPAAs have… however I can see why would you want to drop it in BR when SLM was just 0.3 above, but with a certain degree of decompression, does it really need to? There is some wild cas at 12.3-12.7 for sure, but that is effectively uptier for ADATS, and putting it below 11.3 will make some 9.7-10.7 CAS suffer… quite a lot.
I don’t support overpowered CAS for sure, but as someone who has troubles in realization of A2G ordnance due to being a console player (gamepad is not really it when it comes to gazillion weapon options and its mechanization) I don’t see ADATS dropping anywhere below 11.3
honestly it’s not like it performs leagues above Tunguska. Effective range is pretty short and you have no track radar which means you have to rotate your turret manually to the azimuth enemy is being shown in your search radar and even then it’s vertical scan is quite limited at 18 degrees.
Only real advantage would be smokeless missile, it is harder to detect an ADATS if it turns radar off.
That being said a slight reduction at BR and dropping it to 11.3 wouldn’t be a huge issue imo.
