ADATS is literally unusable

If you didn’t know, the ADATS now have smokeless motor in the very recent update so the enemy aircraft can’t see it coming, which is nice and all, BUT NEITHER CAN THE ADATS LOL. How the hell are we supposed to guide the missile when we don’t even know where the missile is??? After ~4 km the missile just disappears from view and is impossible to guide to hit a maneuvring target. ADATS is dog water years until recent missile change that made it somewhat usable and gave it some hope but now it’s back to being trash again…

Also im playing on minimal graphic cuz my pc is poo poo

Gaijin should put the thermal sight modification at rank I. It’s really hard to hit enemy jets without the thermal sight.

The ADATS only has like an 8km effective range in game.

You are also firing it well outside of its range. Did the vehicle need the Nerf? No but it isn’t unusable by any stretch.

i think it might be a bug. theres no way a rocket motor is invisible on the IR spectrum. smokeless or not

doesn’t the SPAA already guide the missile automatically?

After some analysis, I think that this change is a massive buff, rather than a nerf. The ADATs is already very stealthy - it has a very good IRST system, which doesn’t set off RWR. If you turn off the search radar, enemies will have no way of knowing that you exist at all. You would need access to a high-quality thermal targeting pod, and then find the ADATs within seconds of spawning (unless you circle around at extremely long range, at which point it would be hard to see targets anyways).

Now that there is no flare attached, it will be extremely hard to spot the missile. There is no RWR launch warning.

As for the issue of not being able to see the missile. Well, this is common for most SPAA at top tier, so it’s not some unique issue. A skilled player can accurately estimate the position of the missile relative to the aircraft. It just takes some practice. Then again: you won’t need much calculations if the target is not aware of the launch in the first place!

No, only Pantsir and Tor? get that feature.

ADATS, Stormer HVM, etc etc all of which should auotmatically guide the missile IRL are restricted to a (as far as I am aware) totally ahistorical manual guidance for “gameplay reasons”

okay, thanks

so they’ll make the MIM-146 motor smokeless and not fix the MIM-72E/G smokeless motor???

The ADATS doesn’t have IRST, I think you mean electro-optical system

This is a perfect opportunity to reduce its br.

Before the nerf it was pretty hard to hit a maneuvering target at distance with how much energy the missile lost and thats when we could actually see the missile and adjust its lead.

Now its practically impossible to do since theres no way to know where the missile is or what its doing. Its just a gamble to get an imaginary missile close enough to an active threat for it to proxy

I did not intend to hit the target in the video, i am well aware that its maximum hit range is 10km. I just use the furthest target to demonstrate how the missile is invisible to both thermal and normal gun view, making it impossible to guide it.

XD

I bet u havent played adats. This is nowhere near massive buff. Yes its somewhat a buff but massive nerf for user. This invisible motor only works for totally stupid and brainless people that fly straight but now take a person that turns just a little at 7km range and u are completely done and useless (well unless u know where the missile is but for majority of people(95%) its unusable). Type 81c is much much better at this point. The only drawback it doesnt have radar but unflareable missile with more range (against manouvering targets)

Adats was much better before the update.

Also IRST is mid. But it is what it is
