Introduction
With the introduction of the new Naval Damage Control system, naval players can configure three damage-control presets and assign different priorities to firefighting, repairs and water pumping.
I suggest adapting the same general concept to Ground Battles, allowing tank crews to prioritize different groups of damaged systems depending on the tactical situation.
This would not simply make repairs faster. Instead, it would give the player control over which systems receive the highest repair priority, while other damaged systems continue to be repaired at a reduced priority.
Proposed repair groups
1. Firepower
- Gun barrel
- Gun breech
- Autoloader
- Turret ring
- Horizontal and vertical turret drives
- Fire-control system and related equipment
2. Mobility
- Tracks
- Engine
- Transmission
- Steering and drivetrain components
- Suspension
3. Survivability / Auxiliary Systems
- Fire extinguishing
- APS
- Radar
- Optics and other electronic systems
- Other auxiliary modules
Three presets
Similar to Naval Damage Control, players could configure three repair presets before battle.
For example:
Combat
Firepower → Survivability → Mobility
Escape
Mobility → Survivability → Firepower
Survival
Survivability → Mobility → Firepower
Players could quickly switch between these presets depending on the situation.
Example
If a tank has a damaged gun breech, track and engine while an enemy vehicle is directly in front of it, the player may want to prioritize the gun system first.
In another situation, where the tank is under artillery or aircraft attack, restoring mobility first may be more important.
Currently, the player has very limited control over this decision.
Why this would improve Ground Battles
- Adds tactical decision-making without directly buffing repair speed.
- Uses a system already developed for Naval Battles.
- Gives players more control over their crew.
- Becomes increasingly useful as more internal modules such as autoloaders, fire-control systems, APS and electronics are modeled.
- Can remain optional: players who do not want additional micromanagement could continue using a default Balanced preset.
The intention is therefore not to reduce overall repair times, but to allow players to decide what is most important to repair first.
Difference from previous repair-priority suggestions
Previous suggestions have generally focused on manually selecting individual damaged modules to repair. This proposal instead suggests adapting the newly implemented Naval Damage Control preset system to Ground Battles, using predefined repair groups and priorities rather than selecting individual modules during combat.
