I already had a discussion with another friend about the changes the devs should make, and the sad thing is, he was right. The devs are only going to do things that make them money, and since most players want the game as it is, the devs have an excuse not to make any effort to improve and properly balance the game.
All we can do is play this game without paying much attention to anything, without spending any real money, and without bothering with the stats, since with the level of RNG in this game, stats and kill ratio mean absolutely nothing these days (well, maybe a little more with planes).
The devs’ trial by fire to ensure they had the player population under control was the APHE survey. After that, they realized the game was going to be a walk in the park. Adding a few vehicles, a few poorly made maps, and some stupid mechanics every now and then, and selling premium content without doing any work on fixing problems. We, the players, have made the devs’ lives incredibly easy, haha.
I mean at least it didnt shatter on some plate hidden behind some exterior stuff slapped on the outside of the tank? And it took out turret ring and engine turning him into a sitting duck that cant shoot back? But yeah stuff like this is why especially the conqueror is so egregious to play with its insane reload.
It gets even worse dealing with lightly armored targets with lots of empty space and armor too thin to spall much especially in sideshots. While youre trying to avoid sharp angled armor and vertical armor plates that will shatter your round, you also have to aim for critical parts that will disable the tank so you have the 15 seconds to finish him in a follow up shot. If the safe shot for ammo has high probability to shatter its a constant gamble where to shoot in situations where you dont have lots of time to think where the best spot would be. In a situation where somthing light armored comes speeding around the corner (even worse if it has commander override but not necessary since every gunner can be replaced 2 times in the time you take to reload) its an absolute gamble while any center of mass shot into the fighting compartment should just eradicate any light tank. Hell in the time of the conqs reload even some red breech damage can be repaired.
In that regard its somewhat comparable to the gameplay experience you get using the AVRE. Atrocious reload on heavily armored tank but a round thats as inconsistent as it gets even on targets with basically 0 armor. (though i didnt play the AVRE for quite some time, might be a bit better now but i wouldnt wanna bet on that) In case of the conq shell shatter is just way overtuned and the post pen damage spall created by thin armor plates way too small in combination with a reload that turns every non lethal shot into a serious problem. While one round of 35 mm api-t from a gepards autocannon to the commanders cupola just eradicates the whole crew of lots of heavy tanks. Make it make sense gaijoobls
