Account sharing – should there be a distinction between sharing and selling accounts?
I would like to hear the community’s opinion on Gaijin’s current account-sharing rules.
I understand why account selling, account trading, botting and permanently transferring an account to another person are prohibited. These things can cause serious problems for the game and its economy.
However, I am wondering whether there should be a distinction between those activities and temporarily letting a trusted friend use your account.
For example, imagine that I have a long-term account and a close friend wants to test a premium vehicle before deciding whether to buy it on their own account. Another example would be a friend helping me complete an event while the account remains entirely mine. The account is not being sold, transferred or traded, and there is no intention of giving ownership of the account to somebody else.
From a player’s perspective, these seem like very different situations:
“I let my friend use my account for a short time”
versus
“I sell/trade my account to another person.”
Would it be possible for Gaijin to distinguish between these situations somehow, rather than treating all account sharing in exactly the same way?
I understand that enforcing such a distinction could be difficult, but I would be interested to hear whether Gaijin has ever considered this approach.
