About the General Discussion category and what's 'off-topic'

I know it’s within the moderation team’s best intention to keep the forum as organized as possible, but there’s topics like the gen AI thread that was gaining interesting traction here in General, but the moment it got moved to Community Related - War Thunder — official forum, the interactions just fell flat entirely.

It also happens when there’s talks about specific vehicles; the thread gets moved to Machinery of War Discussion - War Thunder — official forum, and that is fair, but again, notice how those threads get aggressively less engagement, even though it is fairly more justifiable.

There should be a thorough revision of the forum’s traffic and its categories, as there’s categories like the aforementioned that is barely visited, even though there’s a well-enough-built community in the forum, which is counterintuitive to the existance of the category.

In my humble opinion, there’s categories that shouldn’t even be around, like The Academy or Community Related, as they should simply be on the Game Discussion under specific tags.

To wrap up:

Please, make the forum easier to browse, not an endless tag indexing.

That’s probably the intention, lots of people have axes to grind about genAI. Especially the types of people who become forum moderators.

Stuff like this is one of the many reasons forums have fallen out of favor in pursuit of less moderated communities

I believe it is more of a general directive that’s been pushed internally to organize the forum rather than just a particular hatred around certain topics.

The problem comes when those topics lose traction because they’re moved to less-traficked areas of the forum, and not due to a concensus or a major conclusion.
