Correct, some youtubers did a side-by-side comparison with the AAM-3 and 9M and found the AAM-3 was only ever so slightly better despite having 40Gs in the files, hopefully this is changed before live.
As for IRCCM, its real dual seeker would be far too powerful in game so I doubt it will change much, however I hope they make it slightly superior to the 9M’s IRCCM if possible.
Not a bug, he says… Not a bug as he ignores the source that says it has a gimbal limit three times wider in reality than in game. Two primary source documents. Two secondary source documents. Ignored. I’d like to see their source of how they got a 60 degree gimbal limit and not the three times wider area.
EDIT: Nevermind, Not a bug can mean they already acknowledge it and are working on it. Okie dokie then.
The dual seeker isn’t modeled in game (for good reason) it currently has the same irccm seeker as the 9M as to not be completely unfair.
At the moment, assuming the G pull gets fixed, its looking like it will be a more maneuverable, longer range 9M. This will make it probably the 2nd best missile in the game and can always be buffed later on if needed.
Personally im fine with the current IRCCM at the end of the day balance should come first in my opinion, it’s IRCCM can be buffed later. Im also fine with its performance as it seems better then AIM-9M in range and acceleration what I really want to see adjusted is its G pull though and maybe gimble
For anyone interested : the italian wikipedia page on the AAM-3 has quite a lot of info that was new to me. It states some italian book from 2020 but I could not find it online.
Well I checked it and it looks like a dead end. No new numbers or motor info.
Also no further references, but it claims that the seeker gimbal limit is not actually three times larger than AIM-9L, but rather it can manuever and lock on shortly after launch (if I understood it well).
Perhaps, it still shares an awful lot of numbers with the AIM-9M still so it could all just be a placeholder. We will have to wait and see when it hits live or if there is another devserver this weekend. Should this wiggle behavior continue it is most definitely a bug that could severely limit the AAM-3’s range.
