I haven’t heard of an improved J7W1. I’m familiar with the jet-powered J7W2 Kai, which never materialized. Perhaps the suggestion is being rejected due to insufficient sources.

J7W1 has a lot of improvement for subsequent prototypes. The main idea is for the engine ha43-42 to Ha43-43 or 44, I’m not sure if currently engine is matched with this
For J7W2, it is just like a preliminary concept, an idea proposed at an internal meeting

The Japanese captured one P-47 in Taiwan, if I remember correctly, in 1945. The plane was repaired and then tested in Japan.
