That is the issue with some aircraft, you dont have the necessary HUD to know what base you have selected. So you may be better off manually selecting a target instead of going through the preset selection.
I’ve not flown any of the Skyhawks yet, but can jump into a test flight later this evening for some of them and have a play, see if I can see
What Im using Righ now with the Skyhawk, is using one AGM-62A as targeting pod. Sometimes I do destroy the base, but get so much trouble targeting the plane correctly that I ratter just dive bomb oin the way back :/
Id recommend a combo of CCRP and dive bombing. Set the target point when coming in at an angle and attack the base as if you were dive bombing it, but use CCRP to control the release point. Likely your best bet for accurate bombing.
Yep, having messed about a bit in test flight, then I would recommend against the preset targets as you have no way of knowing which you have selected and instead using either your gunsight or the AGM tpod trick to set your CCRP target and then either shallow dive or fly level over the target.
I cant wait for the new test flight that will have bases to bomb so for this, I used those oil tanks as a target instead
I’ve created a bug report about the issue that in some cases (especially on high elevation maps like Afghanistan), the aiming point has a vertical offset to the actual target, resulting in the bombs actually not releasing when the counter reached th release point:
As we have the ability of create SPI marks on map, is it a easier way to use CCRP bombing base on Air SB?
Just move the mark on the base and fly straight to it, it will works on most of planes even for that without targeting pods and HUDs.
Sadly we still cant know how to bomb airfield in this way… as SPI marks created by Swith Target function won’t show on maps and it’s impossible to know where on map is a module for the airfield
I’ve not really tried it yet. My main reservation is that you have to be incredibly accurate with where you place the marker and im not entirely convinced the base markers on the map are in precisely the correctly places.
and yeah, its not much help for AF attacks unfortunately.
its a real shame they’ve yet to improve CCRP target selection with this change, like just being able to select a base on map to target
Just tried it in Air RB, they works pretty good though deep red mark might be too hard to see on a green map like the Chinese one.
You could use another function added this patch to zoom the map and place the mark so it will be quiet more accurately, as the base mark have same size of SPI mark (thanks Gaijin).
Also it could works in ARB as a navigation point for landing in a foggy map… it helps me get a 1vs5 win with all of them crashed when landing
Also, should mention some of napalms, like BLU-1, won’t drop accurately, when using them you should fly really low to make them hit the base
They could make the marker snap to a base when it’s next to it, or have a few little icons next to the airbase to select specific modules.
I find the new map marking function an excellent addition, and actually haven’t used the button to toggle through mision targets once since it was added. It’s usefull and fun to use.
Advantages:
You can easily mark your desired target, not having to toggle through all of them.
You can mark not only mission bases, but also ground forces locations.
You can even use it for navigation.
With map pan and map zoom, you can place the marker with good precision and accuracy.
You can even finetune the marker with Targeting Equipment
What I do often these days, with aircraft with targeting equipment / TGP, is to roughly mark the point on the map, fly to it, and while approaching, finely adjust my desired impact point in the targeting view, then engage as usual.
Thanks to the map marker I’ve now even started to take out those aircraft that don’t have a CCRP indicator on the HUD, like F-111’s: Just mark your target on the map, fly to it (easier if you have TGP), and drop in CCRP.
Btw, you can even use the map marker for navigation. I mark the homebase, then fly to the point marked on the HUD (very nice on AMX), or, if I got a TGP, fly the aircraft so the aiming cross is centered. Very easy.
found a source said when using switch targets, for each 4 target, 0 is runway, 1 is fuel tank, 2 is hanger and 3 is barrack
so if the map have 3 airbase [0-11] will be airbase
CCRP looks not working now for me.
My bomb don’t drop when I am allign with the base that I target but it drop only when I turn at more than 45 degrees and drop at the same time.
Hi, quick question. I use the bucanneer alot, sometimes i want to turn off the ccrp bomb release thing and just drop bombs freely without the ccrp but using the bomb sight in grb. Anyway to do this, i also get liimted on how many bombs i can drop using ccrp too.
I am on mobile at the moment. So can’t quite remember the specific name of the setting. But there is a control setting for automatic weapon release. Toggling that will leave CCRP and all it’s visual symbology, but allow you to manually release the bombs whenever you want. That might be the best option for what you want in that regard
(I need to update this guide as that is a setting added after I wrote this)
As for it only releasing a few bombs. Can you explain this further? What method are using for multiple weapon release? Are you able to send a clip?
(ah that would make sense as i have not been able to find guides for it)
For example when i spawn the bucaneer is grb and see on the minimap/ in game then mark the map, i sometimes wish to drop multiple bombs on that one location using ccrp, however it only allows me to drop one bomb. Bomb release series doesnt seem to fix this for me as it says weapon selection on or something like that.
I can try and make a clip the next time i play.
I also appreciate your guide, it explained ccrp for me when i bought the bucaneer a few months ago and apart from the issues ive come into its super helpful,. thankyou for taking time to make it.
Have a re-read of this section. With weapon selector, you won’t be able to use bomb series but you can use ripple modes to drop multiple weapons instead
Thank you. Yeah, Buc is one of my.go to bombers too
