A guide to: CCRP

You’ll have to do that. Some aircraft have aids for alignment, but some dont. Looks like the AJ37 is one of those that doesnt. So you’ll just have to get a feel for it. The higher you fly, the greater the error though, so flying lower will help… Additionally, you could try a shallow dive onto target.

SAS: Automatic alignment will help with keep your wing levels though.

I finished that match, on Denmark now, is the carrier a target listed?

No, its not unfortunately. Though those are always easiest to attack by flying low in-line with the aircraft carrier to avoid its guns and then dropping your bombs along the length of the deck

Okay, since this aircraft doesn’t technically get a ripple mode, I wish it had a bigger bomb.

Should do. If you use “weapon selection” and then set a setting to change the “Ripple quantity” you should be able to cycle through to “S”. Which is Sequential release. when you press and hold your release button, it will drop all bombs in ripple.

But yeah, bigger bombs do help with the carrier. Buccanneer S2 can take it out in a single pass with its 16x 1000s

Ok, so, essentially, I need to cycle through the targets while in the air?
This isn’t easy since I had 24 targets in my last game on Denmark…
Isn’t there a marker on the map to show which “mission target” is selected??

Yeah, that is the only way to do it. But you can filter it down a bit as the first set of numbers will always be Airfields. On Denmark with 5 AFs (you can always see how many there are as its symmetrical with your own team) 0-19 (4x5 counting from 0 and each AF having 4 parts) will be the AFs. So bases should be 20+.

But yes. The CCRP selection is absolutely aweful. There has been suggestion for improvements in the past. But theyve fallen on deaf ears so far:

The system was added ages ago, back when it was aircraft like the F-105 and its just insuffecient for modern jets

I suggested to Devs to put TERPROM in the game (number of planes already in game has it), but a Dev told me that Wiki “isn’t a source” for what planes have TERPROM installed. :D
I just gave up, after that…

They just need to add CCRP targeting by selecting the desired target on the map, or adding the target number onto the map and then just cycling through to the correct target or highlighting the selected target on the map.

So many ultra-simple choices for fixing the system we have. But as always. The main beneficiary of such a change is SB as RB has third person markers that make it easy.

I agree with you, but TERPROM’s NOE ride on autopilot to the target, under enemy’s radar would suit me just fine, too. :D

Id personally take the Ground Mapping radar on the Tornado and have the ability to see things like Bases and AFs on the radar screen and then being able to create a custom CCRP target point using the radar. Just bypass the entire current system

Did the Tornado have enough radar resolution for something like that?

Oooh yes. In Desert Storm. They would use things like fences, radio masts, etc as fixed reference points and then loft bombs onto a target with an accuracy of a few feet. As per what I recall from the book “Tornado” By John Nickols (but it has been a while, so i might be miss remembering some details)

In theory, it should even be able to detect a tank if it was moving. Large targets like ships, bases or an airfield should be easily detectable

Cool, I thought they had some sort of advanced NAV. GJ should really ramp up Tornado’s radar and engines (performance) on low level.

They also had Terrain following radar that would keep the tornado at 300ft no matter the weather.

Yeah, tornados need some tlc. Not the right thread for it, but hopefully Frist part of that is coming next major with the cm overhaul mentioned in the roadmap, we can finally get our missing 1200 chaff

The radar getting modeled would be amazing as well along with the FM finished

its fancy and all, really like the guide, but.

why does this setting not affect gbu’s?

The guide does need some updates as some things have changed since I wrote but to answer your question. No idea. At all. Gaijin just decided that GBUs cant be automatically released by CCRP

yeah, it seems like a bug, im currently making a video showcasing it and i will report it on their site

I think its intentional personally, but the fact that CCRP works at all with GBUs (even with the manual release) is a major improvement over years past. You had to bodge it by running unguided bombs at the same time

i do know that, and i do know it might be intentional, but it is not historical at all, and it makes dropping gbu’s way harder then it should be in sim mode.
