A genuine question for War Thunder

Clearly, many of you players have come across other “players” with nicknames like _388348, _34374673543, and so on. But why do they get through Gaijin’s account creation steps? Isn’t it a platform flaw to allow accounts to be created with nicknames that seem suspiciously bot-like? I have my doubts about this—are they actually real players?

If you ban numerical names they’d just throw in random names, at least they’re not taking up real usernames.

But if they really are bots, wouldn’t it be easier for Gaijin to ban them? I doubt they could just change nicknames at account creation, since bots generate thousands of accounts in minutes. Even if a player using a bot changes the name, the old nickname generated by the bot should still be detectable by Gaijin’s system. It wouldn’t really be an issue, even if they changed the name right after creation.

Usually those Chinese from mainland would use numeric ign like that

I presume Gaijin does what most companies do and doesn’t go after individual accounts but rather the generator itself and bans in waves after they learn how to detect them.

I think so too, but I don’t see this level of effectiveness during important events, like during the DDOS attacks in the IS-7 event. In those matches, players would get disconnected while others with these bot-like nicknames stayed in the game without issues. This affected the entire community’s ability to get a rare vehicle like the IS-7. I believe the approach you’re suggesting should be changed to something more effective, even if it means using an account protection and creation system that has access to the core of the operating system.

Don’t mention them… I don’t want you to get penalized or my topic to be hidden.

Yes, they are real players. AFAIK Many of them got such names because back in the days WT did not allowed to use other than latin characters.
Now you can use many different, original characters for your nickanme (I can name myself “ęśąćż” which was not possible back in the days).

Players can use whatever nickname they want as long as it’s not against WT rules. If you see nickname that is breaking the rules, feel free to report such user.
Random number is not against rules.
