I see a lack of actual knowledge in this exchange. The main reason for the Pacific War was the lack of energy / oil of Imperial Japan.
The US controlled >80% of the oil production and exports worldwide. Without oil - there is no energy to keep your economy alive. The US oil embargo of 1940 paved the way to war and enforced Japan either to die slowly or much more violent.

which happened because Japan was drinking too much of the imperial juice, they could’ve complied with the requests of the US at any moment and the embargo would go away

When you mentioned Pearl Harbor, in my point of view that’s a whole different from a attack on a military base to a industrial city with civilians with way more casualties.
