I’m not talking about myself here. I am talking entirely about how only a couple round types actually work well and the others simply don’t with no justifiable reason for such. What exactly is wrong with making all the currently-laughable round types on all calibers of aircraft guns actually work consistently?
While this thread of course focuses on .50cals, I feel the same way about pure incendiary bullets of any other gun type, be it 7.Xmm all the way to 30mm (as pure incendiary rounds bigger than that don’t exist ingame to my knowledge).
Some people will never be “satisfied.” The goal to “solve” cases like that is to not appease them, but instead cage them in with their own screams so they trap themselves and drown in their own salty tears, while the rest of the community cannot hear them at all or laughs them out of the room.
Any flavor of “but I don’t wanna use X to kill Y, I want to use just Z I am interested in!” for example is what I mean. You make X so intentionally easy to use effectively to kill Y with just basic effort that all complaining about Y inevitably turns into “why didn’t you go use or learn to use X?” after which the person doing the complaining is trapped with their stupid preferences. Any flavor of “but I don’t wanna!” is only answerable with “somethingsomething skill issue.”
I already use the “best” belts on the existing gun types - but that doesn’t change the fact that I want all the underperforming rounds to actually function well regardless.
It’s 5.7. If it were truly as devastating as you’re claiming, then why hasn’t it moved upwards further? I remember flying it and finding it comparable to the J2M3 - utterly hilarious at low to medium altitudes in climb, speed, and acceleration but lacking in diving speed and ordinance.
True, you could - but if you proceeded to let your own nonfighters or multiroles die in the process of doing such, you essentially fuck yourself. THAT is how the proposed changes naturally rein in “super-fighters” like the Yak-3U. Making them suboptimal by design.
I could see the BR of the plane going up to 6.0-6.3, dude. That doesn’t change how it flies nor how its guns work - therefore I have no reason to resist such changes. I chafe at changes to the foundational characteristics of any vehicle because Snail is always overkill in this regard.
Bombers are anything but invincible now, man. Yes people will take time to adjust to them, but they are very much dying to carefully set-up passes that don’t linger behind them.
The R2Y2s could be given the same damage models, and reclassed as “Air Defence Fighters” with the 2km airspawn higher than the standard airspawn for everything else.
Really, all dedicated purebred bomber killers could possibly be given such damage models if they’re chunky, over-specialized, twin-engine sort of planes. Such as how the Do-217J/N already are now.
There are many options available - raising BRs, removing red enemy markers to enable surprise-BnZ-deleting them before they are able to clown you, upending objective structure to make them suboptimal, among others.
Butchering the plane’s flight performance or guns is hardly necessary.
