I base my opinions off what I see in the game itself. I’m sorry if I am upsetting u with my methods
Yes… personal, unreliable, unreasonable, anecdote.
Ok, I am still relatively new(registered a year ago, prolly played for 9 months), and don’t fully understand FM and all the other technical jargon.
I see something, I react to what I see, i make opinion based off what I see. RDXRooster logic explained.
I will admit this has created some really hot takes(yak9k isn’t that strong, t34 are overrated, etc) but what do you want?
Simply review the vehicles performance. If you do not know how, take this how you want, don’t review vehicles.
Understood. I will fully refrain from reviewing vehicles then
Genuinely not trying to explicitly be rude to you but personal anecdotes on this game really are worthless as they are colored far more by the user playing the vehicle than the vehicle itself.
That I can understand. I could be heavily biased without even noticing, it’s possible. I guess I should grind out the P-39N, take it out for a spin, and decide from there.
won’t take that long — 2k RP with a rank 3 premium should go by quick
This is still colored by your own skill more than the plane unless you are educated enough about the game to separate the two
What is your suggested strategy then? Dork out over a graph I can’t read? Stare at its wiki page till my eyes hurt?
Experienced players can review a vehicles performance by reviewing its various characteristics directly, still by flying it, but not by trying to say “well I do bad in it so it must be good” or “well I do bad in it so it must be bad” sort of way. You can objectively look at what a vehicle offers at any given BR and find out a consensus.
Ok sounds like a plan…that will require rewiring my brain. I mean my evaluation skills have gotten better.
When I was lvl 8 my evaluation of the LaGG-3-8 was “I can consistently get kills with it so it gud”
now when I look at the LaGG, I see a semi-maneuverable and armament based fighter, so I think it has improved 👍
Just BTW, the P-39 is at the same BR as objectively better planes like the Yak-7B.
I’ll restate, it can prolly be considered undertiered, but it’s also at rank 2 where everyone playing is new.
Yes? They’re some of the easiest planes to play in the entire game. You outclimb everyone, can stay up high and out-energy everyone because your engines work great up there, and have amazing flaps to dogfight people with. Work your way down and you can easily kill half their team.
P-38G especially is an amazing sealclubber; P-38E is the only model that isn’t great, and it’s still not bad; P-38K has so much power you can keep maneuvering endlessly even at high altitudes; P-38L is extremely good for 4.7 and playing it made the game too easy.
Doesn’t matter how low or high the BR itself is, it’s undertiered. very fast, climbs quickly, turns decent. Russian premium P-39N is the #1 performing plane for 3.0.
It’s still new so I’ll wait until people have gotten used to it.
lol no. “Easy” means a noob could use it and atleast perform average. Even most pros seem to struggle in P-38.
Nope.
Unless they climb.
P-38 gets folded in every single dogfight, especially against Bf 109, Yak-3/9, and Spitfire (your most common enemies).

Neither me nor my friend are “pros”, and the only thing stopping one of us from getting more than 2 kills was that everyone on the enemy team is DEAD.

All of these were straight up dogfights and the “severe damage” was a blacked out horizontal stabilizer that did nothing to hold me back.

My team was completely gone for all but the first kill
P-38G is even stronger because your enemies are much less capable of contesting you up high.
This is the P-38 experience:
You get an airspawn and insane climb rate so you’re GUARANTEED to be above everyone. I don’t recall a single time where I was out-climbed that didn’t involve me not climbing.
lol
La-7s are close enough and I was REGULARLY beating them in dogfights.
They turn better, sure. But you’ll always be above them and have far better engine performance. Set up your engagements properly and the P-38 ALWAYS gives you options to work with.
If you cannot get good results out of a P-38, anything you have to say is instantly put in question as you lack necessary knowledge and skills.
Since u seem to know a lot about P-38s, how should I play the P-38E? It’s actuall so bad at climbing it’s not funny
Congrats, an ultra tryhard got multiple kills in a vehicle. By that logic, the M22 should go to six seven cause som1 nuked in it.
Now TBF, Statshark isn’t very reliable, however an event vehicle which has been in the game for years having just 1.13 K/D, prolly isn’t nothing impressive. You can’t even say “U.S. players just skill issue!!!111!!!” cuz the Chinese one is barely better.
some planes you don’t, there are just stinkers
38k isnt an event vehicle. Old, occasional sale vehicle.
Often sold in pretty limited quantity too.
Its kinda a poor example to use in this case.
Bong’s P-38J-15
