When employing guided air to ground munitions the player has to enter the dedicated TGP view which often leave the player vulnerable to threats. It can also be hard to try and defend against threats whilst trying to look for targets. And so I am suggesting a way to control the TGP pod from outside of the dedicated screen.
Idea 1 is to have an option to swap between the radar screen you already interact with in the 3rd person view to one showing what your TGP sees. This could be done with a button or keybind to swap between the two and look something like this:
(Bare with me on the visuals my artistic skills are at their limits here.)
Idea 2 is that it could be displayed alongside the radar display without the need for swapping between the two.
Personally I prefer idea 1 as it doesn’t clutter up your view with too much information being shown at all times.
The controls for aiming the TGP camera already work with keybinds. They can be set by setting the Gunner aiming controls to whatever keybinds you want. But this would need to be allowed to work from outside of the dedicated TGP view.
I believe this should be added as a feature as it helps to keep you aware of your surroundings and helps to keep track of your target whilst defending against the enemy.
And added bonus for this would be for simulator battles where you are locked into the 1st person cockpit view. This would allow for a much easier time in employing your guided weapons and be more comfortable for VR players where using the dedicated TGP view is very disorientating.
Another benefit of this is that it could also be worked into the existing TGP MFD’s for aircraft so it would have much better rendering and allow for a true sim experience without relying on anything but the cockpit.
This would work well with this suggestion for TGP MFD slew controls.
