USS Mitscher’s and Forrest Sherman’s 76mm twin battery refuses to target and attack coastal vessels but have no issues against aircraft.
I tried attaching a recording of me switching between the engagement modes but it doesnt seem to be working on the forum. I also manually aimed at the coastal vessel and fired, no issues hitting so bad angle isnt the cause.
-Tested on both ships.
Since the guns can be fired manually and can engage aircraft, the useful question is whether the auxiliary-AI target rules are excluding surface targets or failing only on these two ships. Engagement toggles alone do not show whether the target is inside the battery’s permitted arc, AI range or selected target class.
Please repeat the test against the same coastal vessel with both ships stationary and broadside, then try another destroyer with a comparable auxiliary battery. Record the crew’s AI gunner skill, selected secondary/AA target, engagement mode, range and sea state. A client replay, server replay and .clog from the same battle would allow the developers to distinguish a ship-specific battery configuration issue from general AI targeting behaviour. If the forum upload fails, the official bug report can carry the video and files, with this discussion linked for context.
it sounds like what you wrote boils down to seeing if the cannon can even fire in that angle, and yes, i tested it broadside and it could traverse it, infact lower than the PT boat is at in the test drive map, as for directly ahead, it cant aim very low due to the main battery and bow getting in the way
-i did try attaching the recording to the bug report but it didnt seemingly work
