2S38 to 11.0

Funny enough, most of the issues with the 2S38 its for the most part, player problems. The only real disadvantage is that it has a low-ready ammo pool and is a light tank, but that is rather redundant. The penetration its good fire rate its good too, and it has a pretty decent damage. Mobility-wise its just average but fast enough to rush on points normally mbt’s wouldn’t reach that fast, and it has pretty good survivability accompanied by the use of IRST and HE-VT, which makes it really good. What makes players struggle a lot with it is the fact that they want to treat it like an MBT with an autocannon when it’s a light tank. You get side shots, but the good pen allows for front shots too, so this vehicle is insanely good atis the fact that they want to treat it like an MBT with an autocannon when it’s a light tank. You get side shots, but the good pen allows for front shots too, so this vehicle is insanely good at its job the fact that they want to treat it like an MBT with an autocannon when its a light tank, so this vehicle its insanely good at its BR in fact unfair comparing to other vehicles and still people find a way to have problems with it .

Not thermals, optics, the physical glass.
AKA zoom levels since War Thunder doesn’t use picture-in-picture for optics currently.

Thermal generation can make optics closer together, especially for longer range maps, but it doesn’t make an 8x optic as good as a 2x - 10x optic.

@Necronomica
Ayit, AJ37, Super Etendard, AMX, Q-5L, Jag GR1A, Buccaneer S2B, Hunter F58, A-6E TRAM… all capable of 5+km engagements.
HSTVL is 11.3, not 11.7, and 2S38’s correct BR is 10.3, so it’s a 1.0 difference not 1.7.

@UnHolySausage
I keep telling people that 2S38 and Strf 9040C are good vehicles, just not anywhere as powerful as MBTs of the same BR.

that… that didn’t answer ANY of my points whatsoever… stop derailing and answer my points.

As i said before people compare it with MBT’s when that’s not a fair comparison, compare it with similar vehicles and you Will notice a difference here

I did, hence why I support 2S38 for 10.3.
It’s not an HSTVL by far.
It’s close to its biggest kin the Strf 9040C.
If Begleit had APFSDS I’d say that’s a better 2S38 due to the TOW missiles despite it only being gen 1 thermals.

ignoring the obv again with irst right ? :)))

Which is 9.3, below its 10.X BR.
You should stop forgetting that 2S38 is 10.0 and not 9.3, already well above is SPAA capabilities in BR.

???

One has 45 winrate the other has 65 so not even close

Win rate is a symptom of team skill, not power of a vehicle.
HSTVL is more powerful than both for its BR yet mine has a lower win-rate.
Win-rate is for team skill not vehicle power.

There’s no proof of your statement.
Win rate is rather a product of vehicle lineup and their actual performance

Vehicle lineup choosing is part of player skill.
Choosing MBTs over light tanks is the correct maneuver if you care about winning.
Map positioning, identifying targets before they identify you, etc.

Even if there’s a minor imbalance, or in the case of Ariete and Challenger 2 major imbalance, skilled players only ever operate in onion layers 1 - 3: Don’t be seen, shot at, hit; which Ariete does as well as 2A7V, Ariete of course will fail onion layer 4: Don’t be penned.

People don’t choose tech tree based on their skill. People of similar skill have different success with different tech trees.
One is better than other

Tech trees are all essentially identical due to the BR system.

Keep in mind the Begleitpanzer is at 9.3 with a faster firing 57mm , a TOW launcher, better gun depression, and better mobility.

Of course, the 2S38 has a much much stronger round, actually usable thermals, and the IRST.

But I don’t think those advantages warrant almost a 2 BR increase. I would say at the highest the 2S38 could go to 10.7 so the T-90A has a lineup, but even that is stretching it.

If they were there wouldn’t be 1.5 times winrate discrepancy

Win rate is an indicator of team skill. Stop bringing up irrelevant information.

False speculation

No, it’s basic knowledge of statistics.
Vehicle power indicators are KDR compared to like-vehicles on singular profiles.
HSTVL, 2S38, Begleit, and Strf 9040C for example.

It is a mix of both. It encompasses the average skill of the team, and enemies, how good the lineup is, and partly individual skill.

K/B (kills per battle) is the best way to measure how good a vehicle is in my opinion.
