I would say the begleitpanzer 57 is the closest comparison to the 2s38 there is. Same pen, begleit fires slightly faster and has a tow, allowing it to kill tanks frontally, 2s38 has better thermals and larger profile. Why are you not arguing that the begleitpanzer get moved up, considering its sitting at 9.7?

Bagleit TOW only works in downtiers mainly because its just an I-TOW. It’s very outdated both penetration wise and guidance wise for a 9.7.

Bagleit does not get autotracking on the gun so its far worse at AA duty unless you are some god at aiming.

Sorry for the ammo statement I accidentally looked at the wrong ammo type, I do still that 2s38 cannot engage most tanks frontally (expect when in ideal conditions). Auto tracking on the 2s38 is available because it is an spaa while the begleit is not. Sorry again for the earlier statement about ammo but the i tow is still quite powerful and definitely can still kill tanks. Begleit is at 9.7 though which I think is fair as I think the 2s38 is fair at 10.3 (maybe slight move up to 10.7).

I come back to skim this topic to see the trend.
My first experience against 2S38 was stock grinding an Abrams, probably the M1A1 HC at the time.
After I saw how easily HEATFS dealt with it, I worked on 9.3s.
Yeah, autocannon is dangerous, which is why my stance is ~10.7 for 2S38.
11.3 for RDF/LT if it keeps thermals.
And HSTVL is fine where it is currently.
Of course, I am of the controversial opinion that 26 rounds is far more than enough for my desired average frags per spawn. I’ve even considered dropping 2S38’s APFSDS round count from 44 to 30, and its HEVT round count from ~100 to 30.

The 2S38 is easy to kill one shot one kill because new players always carry full ammo storage and just any shot through the hull causing ammo rack explosion.
