gaijin has removed most of bot accounts since last update , so maybe it could be making queue longer , (i mostly get my naval rb matches in under 1 min and 30 sec now as opposed to under 30 or even 20 sec before the update ,very rarely i go above 2 min in all servers selected)
In your opinion, what sort of wait times are fine for naval random battles?
ok so did they really remove most of bot accounts if your wait time went down for naval?
think it through
I haven’t had a timer in any mode over six minutes in years. If I did I’d change mode. Running NA/EU for server selection.
(I think with naval RB there’s a condition at the six minute mark that it just throws you in with AI no matter how small the lobby.)
If a timer ever passed six min I’d change modes and try naval again another time.
I’ve gotten 10 to 15 mine wait times for NRB fairly recently.
Either that system is a tad buggy or there really isn’t anyone playing naval at the moment
I have honestly never seen that. And I wouldn’t stand for it. If the wait’s that long, I wasn’t meant to play that mode tonight. This isn’t so amazing an experience it’s worth that much waiting around for, nowhere close.
Thanks for responding with some specific numbers. I see a lot of posts about too long queue times (in any mode), but no-one ever mentions what actually is too long.
Maybe not… :'D
Reminds me of the Windows game Minesweeper…
My own opinion on queue time (only polite since I asked the question), I got in to a habit of quitting at 4 minutes. This was because the game would just add in all servers after 4 minutes. I used to have SA and NA selected (unfortunately can’t do that anymore since the Auto server selection came in) as the EU and RU (back then) servers were 400+ ping and the games weren’t really playable. But at the 4 minute mark it would add in EU and RU regardless, so I would exit the queue at that time.
So, that kind of stuck around and I generally find something else to do after 4 -5 minutes. Overall most games are started in less time than that, but more recently I’m getting queue times over 6 minutes for AirRB, even when there are consistently 20+ waiting for battle. Not really sure what is going on recently.
So the other thing I’d suggest is, if you’re in a mode where you know it’s longer queue times, always change the setting in Options to “join battles in progress.” It doesn’t matter as much in naval, in fact sometimes it’s better to log in late. And I think that’s part of what triggers that six-minute timer I mentioned.
AB is always your other option there of course, the rule set really isn’t that different.
The other big issue that adds delay is being in squad with others as it has to try to match your group with another squad. But what I can say is, same BRs as you’re playing, with “join battles in progress,” unsquadded, EU/NA in normal North American play hours, I have never seen a naval queue longer than 6 minutes this year. And if I did I’d switch to AB, or air, or ground and try again later.
Always have Join In Progress enabled. I’ve never seen the game drop me into a match more than 30 seconds to a minute in, so it effectively doesn’t matter; the devs would likely be better off removing this option and just having it be the norm.
Enable more/all servers if you’re still having queue time issues. I often play with all enabled, especially for Naval, and I never have queue issues.
I note that this is for Enduring confrontation - the wait time for random battles is much less!
Some daily challenge tasks you really need to be there at the start. And if you’re min/maxing score and the queues are short there’s a strong argument for playing whole matches, not joining late. But it’s a balancing act, and I toggle it on and off throughout a play session depending on what I’m trying to do.
