So I’ve been trying te fw-190 As on the german tree since I skipped them after the A-1 at 3.0
And after suffering at 4.3 with the A-5 I checked what “upgrade” I got and saw this
fw-190 A-4 (4.0 ARB)

fw-190 A-5 (4.3 ARB)

even took the job the spade both of them
Same guns, same alt performance with the engine suffering a lot after 3000m with the only difference being the A-5 can carry 2 Wfr.Gr.21 rockets even then that should change the Ground battles BR and not the air battles BR?
What changed from the A-4 to the A-5? I know the 190s get better after the D models but im fighting in yak-3 territory for no reason at all with the A variants and it would be greatly appreciated to know what changed
Here’s the best part;
Those aren’t even anti-ground rockets. Those were (irl) anti-bomber formation rockets. And they were intended to explode within bomber formations, not necessarily direct hits.
I know that, but atleast would be funny to pulverize an ASU-57, but these things are boom and zoomers but can’t fly upwards to 5000m before the battle is over, the only thing im zooming is the braindead wyvern player grinding AI
I know I’m just saying that Gaijin can’t even accurately depict the only reason this thing is .3 higher than the one before it. Which makes it even more silly.
Like you said, those dumb rockets.
you are telling me TWO, two rockets without a proxy fuze or wonder weapon level ballistics is apparently enough to put the 190 A-5 on par with other 4.3 fighters? even if I got that thing to the around 3400m to even fire at the bomber?
I’m telling you that Gaijin is telling you that.

Fw 190 A-5 - War Thunder Wiki (old wiki)
The A-5 was 4.7 in the past and very agile - before they nerfed the plane.
Summary
In November 1942, the FW.190A-5 variation went into series production. This model differed from the A-4 series in that the forward section of its fuselage had been slightly enlarged. This measure significantly improved the fighter’s responsiveness. The aircraft’s design and equipment had changed slightly in other respects as well. It had been equipped with a new horizon indicator and an advanced oxygen system. The FuG25 identification friend or foe (IFF) repeater had become a standard part of the aircraft’s radio equipment.
This is wrong from various aspects:
- The easiest way to look at it is that the A-5 was (before it got nerfed) way more agile than the A-4 and had always a higher BR
- Similar obvious is that the A-4 is Rank III and has way worse SL & RP multipliers than the Rank IV A-5
I kindly ask you to stop posting nonsense - even if agree that both versions are compared to a Yak-3 rather overtiered - your content here is a “nothing-burger”…

Fwiw:

The A4 looks to have slightly better power to weight ratio across the board as a consequence.
