I guess due to the smaller, one piece ammunition. Apparently there’s a better APFSDS round than DTC02-105 in development / in testing? It’s supposed to be on par with 120 / 125 mm guns.

I would rather take the VT-5 tbqh, this doesn’t seem to have the bones of a modular tank as the future of China’s armored forces to me.
As said this is a 96 series replacement, likely has unmanned turret and is lighter than other MBTs, probably a hull design a bit like ABRAMS, lower hull facing, autoloader like VT-5.
That’s what it likely is, since it turned out western style MBTs are likely too heavy for china’s liking, and Russian ones aren’t mobile enough.
Not enough info about this tank at the moment but I think we will see more of it in the coming years. Hopefully gaijin can add this and also buff the other Chinese MBTs

For now let’s just wait patiently for another month or so.
Likely cause bustle autoloader. It probably has higher pen than even DTC-10 since there is then no limit on penetrator length. This then likely means it is more in line with stuff like type-15 using same rounds.

For now at least a couple changes can be made on the armour and ERA package.
Also seems like similar hull is used for IFV, could share stuff like transmission and electronic packages which allows better maintenance.
Don’t quite know what else is ‘interchageable’ so far.

Yeah, we´ll take it easy here. Though I´m expecting that some of the more important information (first and foremost its name, number of crewmen and weight) will be announced in the coming weeks with the September 3rd Parade. Also, before New Year I believe there will be a TV show episode on this tank, perhaps even showing it in service. Lastly we´ll have Zuhai Airshow 2025 and its also likely that this tank or related platforms and /or elements will be demonstrated there.
There won’t be one. It’s per two years I believe. However Aero 2025 will be here so I’d expect something.
Its very clearly a concept vehicle. Crew hatches are too small to be used in an actual emergency, and a small engine clearly designed for IFVs I doubt would be able to keep all of that electronics and sensor suite powered up while also driving the vehicle - especially with that large of an unmanned turret.
The universal hull concept is cool and overall the thing if it works, will be really good as a light tank (no way this is going to be an MBT). Im just surprised there areny any ERA blocks?
Regarding the analysis of the armor configuration:
In early images of the “Shuang Li Pu” (which has become the most popular nickname for these two tanks in the Chinese community, means Double Absurdity), Figure 1—a rare configuration without any add-on modules—reveals that the hull is fully recessed between the tracks, featuring a large, nearly vertical or slightly sloped monolithic upper front plate armor (similar to the T-14’s layout) with no traditional lower front plate.
Figure 2 shows another state, where only the upper add-on modules are installed, lacking the lower front section seen in current configurations.
