Kratek povzetek RRI aktivnosti:
“The project focuses on the development of a technology demonstrator for a complex system/platform
of a remotely operated weapon station (ROWS) designed to rearm an 8x8 SKOV, with an integrated 30x173 mm cannon, a 7,62x51 mm co-propelled machine gun, an armed 12,7x99 mm optical module for the commander, a launcher module for PORS SPIKE
LR/LR2 or optionally drones, a laser marking warning device and an AESA radar. The selected contractor will, in cooperation with the customer, construct a technology demonstrator
of a remote-controlled 30 mm calibre weapon station for the rearmament of the SKOV 8x8 SV.
The modular design of the weapon station will allow for future deployment on other Slovene Armed Forces vehicles, if required, with minimal modifications”

Why they did not use any Spikes when testing, they are probably very expensive and Slovene Army does not like to spend munitions just like that.
I wonder if there are going to be more vehicle procurements in the future. At least for the nations inside NATO. Now that NATO members were basically strong manned in to making a pinky promise to get to spending 5% of gdp on their nations militaries. Which I don’t think Croatia or Slovenia have any intention of reaching. And I get most of that isn’t going to be spent on hardware like vehicles.
But if they were…
Idk. More refurbished American equipment for croatia? Or in the 10 year time span. Slovenia buying used leo 2s?
For Slovenia those procurements have to survive like 3 different governments which is highly unlikely and would probably hold a referendum so it is hard to say. I assume they will go back to 3% of GDP after Trump’s term ends.
Army from what I talked to also is not complaining about M-84 but could be just some people.
Yeah since our politicians hold a referendum for which days they are allowed to go to the toilet and take a shit pretty much any big equipment procurement would result in a referendum.
With all the new three-vehicle packs being added, I thought it might be nice to put one together for Yugoslavia as well. Turns out there’s a perfect theme for one!
Introducing: The “Makeshift Protection” Pack! (name not final)
These all fit together both in theme and battle rating, and they offer a unique combination of East, West, and domestic! I might do a suggestion post on it, but I’d love to hear some feedback before that. If anyone else decides to make a post before I do, please at least credit me for the idea and link back to this comment!
It may offer some mild protection against older HEAT warheads, though some sources from the Yugoslav wars claimed it was done to reduce the thermal and/or radar signature of the tank, something it would struggle to do. It was primarily there as a morale boost to the crew, like most other improvised add-on armor (that isn’t actual metal or cage/slat).
Today was military parade in Zagreb Croatia to honour Operation Storm 30th anniversary.
A lot of military vehicles were shown from Ground to Air and Sea.
Rubber is used in a lot of composite armor. It is especially good against chemical munitions, because rubber causes alot of friction to the point where it can slow or stop the HEAT stream.
I have no clue on its properties against solid shot. Probably similar, but the APFSDS preforms better against softer materials (at least I think) and struggles more against dense metals.
Anyway most composite armor (aside from the metal used in RHA) is a material that causes a lot of friction.
Regarding Serbia’s HQ-17AE, the display board data from the first picture shows that its target engagement range reaches 15 km, which should refer to the standard HQ-17AE missile’s range. The second picture indicates that the HQ-17AE can also launch a missile called the HQ-17AE/A, which likely features extended range and other performance enhancements. However, Serbia may not have purchased this upgraded missile, as its displayed range data differs from China’s specifications.
According to Chinese demonstrations, the HQ-17AE system possesses the capability to launch missiles while moving and can simultaneously guide four missiles to strike four different targets. Its operational range extends up to 30 km (likely when equipped with the HQ-17AE/A missile).
As seen in the third picture, the HQ-17AE is equipped with a hydro-pneumatic suspension system (oil-gas suspension), which enhances mobility and stability on rough terrain
